Brrr! March came in like a lamb in Virginia with some warm weather, but I'm up in Michigan getting the kid for spring break and it's definitely not warm here. I'm currently sitting in my hotel room waiting for classes to be over so we can head home, so I figured I'd join Deb and Coco for some coffee talk. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I flew for the third time since early 2020 yesterday. My first trip was to Cape Cod to put on the ZOOMA race. Yesterday's trip went so much better! Everything was on time and all the details went super smooth. I'm really hoping that this means airlines are getting their feet back under them. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I made a tactical error choosing my hotel for last … [Read more...]
Kicking off the year with coffee!
I can't believe we are a week into the new year already. Last week was a minute and a million years long at the same time. I'm still not hanging out with people in person, so I'm joining Deb and Coco for virtual coffee again. My thoughts on when I might have coffee WITH someone again below... If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that the reason last week seemed so long is that we were trying to get back to work while one kid was still home from college and the other had an ENTIRE week off for snow. Or 4 of the days anyways. The fifth day off was because there were too many teachers out. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that the college kid is home for one more week because school went online. Meanwhile, the other kid … [Read more...]
If nothing else, February is shorter
January is over. It seriously may have been 9,354,200 days long. Or just 31 of the longest days ever. My kids barely attended school even though we really didn't have that much snow. In fact, with today's late start, we now have an entire week where they did not go a single full day. Last week, I think they had one full day. Oy. But, since we are starting off February with another late start, I actually have time for coffee (and I'm all caught up on sleep as I've slept in until 8 am 4 of the last 7 days...) I’m joining Deb and Coco‘s virtual coffee date and sharing what I'd chat about over coffee. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you I'm super excited to be a Skirt Sports Ambassador again this year! I love so … [Read more...]
Where should we meet for coffee???
I'm not sure how this month flew by so fast. One minute I was running Marine Corps Marathon. The next we are closing out the month of November. I'm not even sure that I accomplished anything LOL. But since tomorrow is the last Friday of the month and Saturday is the first Saturday of December, I am joining I’m joining Deb and Coco‘s virtual coffee date and throwing a runfession or two for Marcia as well. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I recently decided to do a small renovation on my kitchen. My house was built in 1939 and my stove is from 1962. It's needed work for a while, but I kept finding better things to do with my money (ok maybe not better, but definitely more fun.) I almost got it upgraded a year and a half ago … [Read more...]
Starting the month with a whole lotta coffee
I survived! I knew going into this fall that September and October were going to be insane. They did not disappoint! But it's November now and with Shoo's birthday on Halloween, the craziness ends. Time to take a deep breath and get everything under control. Since I actually have time to take a real coffee break, I'm joining Deb and Coco's virtual coffee date. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I was more sore after the Marine Corps Marathon than I have been after a race in years. Seriously, the lack of a bathroom on our main level darn near killed me. On the bright side, not only did I refuse to walk up and down the stairs to do anything for my kids, I made Shoo be my legs and sent him to get things for me. Thankfully, by … [Read more...]
Time for coffee with some friends
Coffee time! I don't often make it for a coffee date with friends these days, but I'm trying to be better about being social. So, I'm joining up with Deborah and Coco for a virtual coffee date. I managed to get a run in with Deborah recently and ran into Coco at an event, so I'm even doing some real life socializing! I’m also linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five 2.0. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I went from no races to a huge number of races in a flash this spring. I didn't mean to, but somehow it just happened! Somehow I've run 17.75, a timed trail race, and two half marathon that I did not have on my race calendar. This weekend I'm finally running the Frederick Half Marathon - … [Read more...]
Some weeks I need a coffee IV
I haven't joined in on the Ultimate Coffee date in a while, so I thought I'd jump back on that bandwagon. However, I don't post on the weekends, so I'm combining Friday Five and Coffee. Sounds like a perfect combination to me. Anyways, I'm joining up with my friends Deborah and Coco for a virtual coffee date (they are both local to me - I should meet up for a real coffee date...) I’m also linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday Five 2.0. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that I'm suffering from a huge case of FOMO. I really want to be running the Utah Valley Marathon (half) with some of the other bloggers that are going. I even went so far as to look at plane tickets, but getting to Salt Lake City … [Read more...]
Sometimes you really need a coffee date with friends
Happy Saturday! This post is publishing WAY before I get up today. It's been a long hard week and I'm sleeping in. Anyways, I'm joining up with my friends Deborah, Coco, and Lynda for a virtual coffee date. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that this week was a week of crazy ups and downs. My kids finally went back to school after missing 8! school days (ok, one was a planned teacher work day). I love my children, but it was great to finally get back to a routine. We went a bit feral while they were home - staying up past midnight and sleeping until noon. Yeah, it was good to get back on track. … [Read more...]
