5 Soups Friday!
I love soup. I could literally eat it every meal, all year round. In fact, when I was pregnant with Jones, I craved it all.the.time. I had some sort of soup at every meal for MONTHS. (Until I ordered a gag inducing soup at a Mexican restaurant and then didn't eat soup for months...) Anyways, when I saw that the Friday Five topic from Cynthia, Courtney, and Mar was Favorite Fall Foods, I yelled "SOUP" and started cheering. Ok, maybe I just thought to myself, "oh, I have some favorite soups". Whatever. Same thing. Running Errands
I needed to head into Georgetown today to pick something up. I don't drive in DC, parking sucks in Georgetown, and the metro doesn't actually go there. Also, we are currently having parking issues (gotta love urban living) and all the cars have good spots, so I didn't want to move them LOL. So, I decided to literally run my errands. I'd run into Georgetown to pick up what I needed and then run back to Arlington, stopping at the grocery store on the way home. What was so important I needed to actually run to get it? Yes, I ran the 3+ miles to Georgetown just so I could get the sticker that North Face made for us as an apology for the long half marathon. (I actually talked to one of their marketing people while there and found … [Read more...]
WIAW: Whine and Beer
First the whine. (Yes, whine, not wine). I've had a rough week. I'm trying desperately to figure out what I need to pack for camp, as well as trying to make sure going completely off the grid will not result in unpaid bills (home or work), missed appointments, or anything else important. If that were the only thing going on in my life, I'd be stressed. But I'm also dealing with end of the school year activities, normal chores, regular work projects, and trying to get a work out in. And yesterday, my hamstring decided it was pissed at me and my brand new dishwasher stopped working. Yeah, great day around here. But the plumber and electrician are coming this morning, I can read books while in pigeon pose, and I am going to find my … [Read more...]
TTT: Cello, 10 foods, and crazy ideas
1. Last night was Jones' winter concert. He started playing the cello this fall, so we got to attend the annual band, orchestra, and chorus concert. The concert was surprisingly good. It was probably helped by the fact that the beginning strings section is not using bows yet and we were spared the sound of 30+ cats being tortured. 2. One of the blogs I read, Roc the Run, posted about "what would you choose if you could only have 10 foods (and 5 seasonings) for the rest of your life." Is it bad that my first thought was beer and my next was coffee? LOL Then I sat down and thought about it (and decided beverages don't count) and came up with a … [Read more...]
Single digits
It's 3 degrees outside and that's a huge warm up from yesterday's -8 with -30 windchill. Needless to say, I've been doing all my running on a treadmill. I only have 8.4 miles to go to my 1000 mile goal! If the weather was decent, I'd knock it out in one run, but I'm not sure I can do that on the treadmill. We had the extended family Christmas yesterday and I think I've convinced a few family members to run the "Run for the Apples" 5 miler in October when we go to Minnesota for my cousin's wedding. It'll be cool to get a state and to run with my family. On the not so cool side, I think I gained three pounds yesterday alone. At our family get togethers, you eat snack foods and sweets until you are so full that you might pop and then … [Read more...]
