I wrote this post when we got to Bermuda and then got too busy to finish it. I'll post about the race weekend next, but suffice it to say that the trip was amazing! Bermuda is gorgeous! Our trip here was a little rough - 3 airplane changes in Miami, 5 gate changes (from one end of the terminal and back several times), and an overnight in a hotel (if by overnight you mean from 11pm-3:00 am). If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know that you should probably never travel internationally with me. Anyways, we finally made it here on Wednesday morning and spent the day walking around the town of St. George's and the forts near the town. Alternative Marathon Training AKA hiking at altitude
Last Wednesday, Beer Geek, the boys, and I all hopped a plane at o'dark thirty from DC to Denver. Upon arrival, we grabbed our rental car and headed 5 hours away to Angel Fire, New Mexico. Our plan was to visit Taos and the Taos Pueblo, as well as various hiking activities. Instead, he and I both came down with a wicked bug that threw a wrench into the first bit of our vacation. Beer Geek and Jones managed to make it to Taos, but I was barely capable of walking from the bedroom to the bathroom that day. Speaking of comfort zones
I'm not afraid of heights, but I'm not exactly fond of them. And I really freak out when my kids are up high with nothing between them and a fall. So, if I had seen this sign BEFORE we hiked up... I would have missed out on this... and this.... and this... But I also would not have had to done this... In the bottom right you can see me with my dad and Shoo. We were done with the scary steep part by that point. There were parts where my dad would climb down a bit, make sure he was stable and I'd hand down Shoo.
