Known as the People's Marathon, the Marine Corps Marathon does not take place until late October, 30 October in 2016. But despite that, it's time to start thinking about running this iconic race. I firmly believe it's one of the best marathons out there, especially for first time marathoners. Every year I struggle with the decision to make this my fall A race or not. Don't believe me? It’s a perfect day for a coffee date!
Happy Saturday! I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee, wondering if there is actually enough coffee in the world to get me through the day. It feels like it's been raining for years. I know it hasn't and I know we need at least some of this rain, but I don't do well with multiple grey and wet days in a row. Anyways, I'm joining up with my friends Deborah, Coco, and Lynda for a virtual coffee date. If we were having coffee, I'd tell you that instead of running Ragnar Relay, I spent my evening in my nice warm house drinking a pumpkin beer and baking for a recipe post on Monday. Throwback Thursday: Marine Corps Marathon
This weekend is the 38th Marine Corps Marathon. 5 years ago, I ran it as my first marathon. It was an amazing experience! My decision to run a marathon was not a long thought out one. Instead, it was the result of an off the cuff remark to a friend. But once it was out there, I realized I really wanted to do it. I wasn't a distance runner at that point. I'd run the Army 10 Miler once (and hadn't been able to walk for days.) But I put in the time and the training and did it. It's an accomplishment I'll always be proud of. I have no desire (at this point) to run a 3rd marathon, but the Marine Corps Marathon was such an amazing experience that I get nostalgic and wish I was running.
