Probility Ann Arbor Half MarathonOctober 24, 20212:34:56 Temp: high 30s What I wore: hat, tank top, quarter zip, a Skirt Sports Lotta Breeze Skirt, compression socks, and Altra Rivera Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan When I decided that I wanted to visit my son at college this fall, it occurred to me that I could finally get back out for a live race! Conveniently, the Probility Ann Arbor race fell the same weekend as his fall break, so I jumped on the opportunity! Because the race was about an hour away, I opted to do morning of packet pickup. I missed out on the expo, but honestly, I don't need any more stuff from a race! Driving over race morning was easy (although foggy as all heck) and packet pickup went super smoothly. … [Read more...]
Lifetime Half #60, State #32: Hungry Duck Run (MI)
Hungry Duck Run Half Marathon July 4, 2016 2:20:24 Temp: Mid 60s at the start, high 70s by the end What I wore: hat, tank top, a Skirt Sports Gym Girl Ultra, Features socks, and Altra One 2.5 I have to admit that I wasn't very excited to be running this race. I've learned over the course of many half marathons that in teeny tiny races like the Hungry Duck Run (especially when they offer a shorter distance too), I'm going to be nearly last and I'll be running mostly by myself. But I needed Michigan and this was the only race available while we were in town. The race took place in the town of Brighton, which had a fabulous brewpub (Draught Horse brewing). That alone made it worth running LOL. Unfortunately, Shoo had a super … [Read more...]
Lions, and Hellcats, and Beers, oh my
It's a really long ways from Washington DC to Grand Rapids, Michigan, especially when you are the one riding in the back seat. Just 'sayin... We just got back from a lovely week in Michigan. Other than the long drive and the fact that heat decided to follow us, it was an amazing trip. We left crazy early on the Friday before July 4th. Trust me, you do not want to be trying to get out of DC any later than you have to on a holiday weekend in the summer, so we hit the road at 5:30am. This meant we made it to Cleveland and the Great Lakes Brewing Company in time for lunch. Priorities, people. After lunch (and some amazing beer), we headed to the Cleveland Zoo. It was a lovely zoo and we managed to spend more than 3 hours walking … [Read more...]
State #16: Michigan
Earlier this summer, my dad decided that we should get one more state. Apparently Utah and Wyoming weren't enough for one summer. I did some searching and found a race that was right over the border from Wisconsin in Michigan. Beer Geek wasn't with us, so we had to be a little creative so that we could all get a race in. We borrowed a BOB running stroller (Wow, wish they'd been around when Jones was a baby!) and loaded everyone up in the van. Plan was for my dad and I to run the 10k while pushing Shoo in the stroller and my mom would walk with Jones and my nephew. After a fun day at the beach on Lake Michigan and a dinner out at a brewpub, we arrived at the race ready to go. Except for one thing. Air in the tires. Yep, the … [Read more...]
