Gonna be sore tomorrow

March 31, 2009 by MCM Mama 11 Comments

Shoo and I had our weekly exercise class today.  Most weeks, he runs around the room, while I'm able to get a workout in.  Today he alternated between being clingy and trying to prevent me from doing what I was supposed to do.  This made my workout amazingly harder.  When he was clinging, it was just an extra 35 pounds while doing step and squats.  It was a little more challenging when I was trying to do situps with him pushing my shoulders back down.  The most difficult part, however, was pushing up to the plank position with him lying on my back.  I may not be able to lift my arms tomorrow LOL. We've started looking at houses to rent in Rockland, ME for our vacation.  We did that a few years ago in Ithaca, NY and it was awesome to have … [Read more...]

State #3 and 1:59:24

Didja miss me?  Short story:  I ran the Caesar Rodney Half Marathon this morning and finished in 1:59:24.  Woot! More information than you probably care to know: We had an awesome weekend.    We headed up north around 1 on Friday.  After checking in and taking the boys to the pool, we met one of Beer Geek's college friends and her husband for dinner at the Iron Hill Brew Pub in Newark.  They had some really good stuff on tap, including a yummy porter that I had and a stout on a nitrogen tap that Beer Geek had.   We ended up taking a growler of the porter back to the hotel with us. Saturday morning, we got up and I picked up my race packet.  Then we took the boys to the Delaware Museum of Natural History.  They had a blast! … [Read more...]

I think I need to detox

January 21, 2009 by MCM Mama 11 Comments

After drinking my weight in margaritas, beer, and wine this weekend, I think it's time to start treating my body better. I don't even want to know what the scale will be saying tomorrow! Our trip to Texas was awesome. We had a great time with family and enjoyed celebrating Beer Geek's grandmother's birthday. In addition to the aforementioned alcohol, much barbecue and TexMex food was eaten. The boys had an awesome time with their cousins. They got to drive tractors, climb trees, and spend an afternoon throwing oranges into a pool (don't ask). And, of course, they had some great bonding time over the Nintendo DS and one of the Star Wars movies. Our trip home today was a bit surreal. Because we spent most of the day en route from TX to … [Read more...]

Coffee with a side of rain

Coffee with a side of rain

Apparently I only write coffee posts when I’m in Michigan. I guess my body is hard wired to wake up early, but the college kid has no interest in an early wakeup call. I’d run, but it’s raining and I did not bring the right running clothes, so here I sit. I’m joining Deb and […]
