This weekend, I ran a run as part of the Team ALI Virtual Run. Suz and Allan at Cows and Lasers and Everything in Between asked us to choose a distance and run it in honor of their niece Ali, who was born weighing only 2 lbs 6 oz. Ali’s parents started Team ALI to fundraise for the March of Dimes. Even though the Virtual Run is over, you can still donate by going here.
I chose to run 5.3 miles. Why? Because I was 5 lbs 3 oz when I arrived several weeks early. And I was fully baked compared to my brother who arrived even earlier. I’ve always been thankful that my boys both arrived near their due dates and weighed in at a robust 7.5 pounds each.
The run itself was fairly unremarkable. It was a lovely day for a run. My pace was a happy 9:55 (yes, I’m loving that I’m seeing 9’s on my easy runs again.) I’m having some discomfort in one of my feet, but I refuse to stress about it until I see my chiro tomorrow.
Good Luck to Team ALI in their fundraising endeavors!
Great job! Way to get in a run for a great cause:)
Thanks for participating and for such a sweet post! It’s amazing how many people have miracle babies in their families that are strong and healthy adults now.
What a tiny dot of a thing. She’s so small but still so perfect. It’s a worrying time for her parents. I hope she grows and thrives.
