Sorry, guys, this one is for the girls.
I’ve been running for a long time. I ran sporadically during college, as part of a varied workout plan post college and pre kids, and regularly for the last 21 years. As you can imagine, my body has changed a lot in that time (including a 50 pound gain and 70 pound loss with my second pregnancy.) One thing has remained consistent: the need to keep the girls supported and contained.
I confess that I’m a committed unaboober when it comes to running bras. I don’t like underwires and I prefer the “smoosh ’em down” method of containment to a separate and support option. I am also currently only a B+ in cup size.
I recently had the opportunity to try out some of the adidas running bras. I chose the TLRD High Impact Training Support Bra, the Powerimpact Medium Training Support Bra, and the Aeroimpact Training Light Support Bra.
I’m going to cut right to the chase – my favorite was the adidas Powerimpact bra. I bought this in my usual size (small), even though I’m kind of a shmedium these days. It was a snug fit and held the girls tight, just like I prefer. I ran multiple times in it while in Florida (hello, hot and humid) without chafing and felt completely supported the whole time. I’m not sure it would have been supportive enough if I were any bigger or had bought a medium, but the small was just right.

If you are a bit better endowed, the adidas High Impact bra would work well. I felt like it was more than I wanted and there is no way I could have gotten into a small (and I found hooking the bottom strap to be a bit challenging.) But the girls weren’t going anywhere!

I confess that I did not buy the Aeroimpact bra to run in, but I did try it out for that. They call it light support, but I found that even the medium had good support! I wouldn’t run a long run in it (mostly because I’m afraid that the thinner straps would chafe), but it would be great for a cross training workout that included some running or jumping.

All in all, I’d say that adidas has some great options for running bras. Bonus is that they often have sales and if you become a member of the adiclub, you can get free shipping and other deals.
