“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night…”
Perhaps you’ve been watching the weather predictions. Or maybe you live on the east coast. If not, maybe you didn’t know that (despite a lovely 50+ degree day yesterday), the forecast called for a plummeting of temperatures and 5-9 inches of snow in the DC area.
Did someone forget to tell Mother Nature that it’s March?
By 7pm last night, Beer Geek’s office was closed and the kids’ schools were moments behind. Seriously? It was raining at that point and not that cold, so hard to wrap our heads around one more snow day. Sigh.
I opened negotiations on treadmill usage. See, my treadmill sits a mere 15 feet from Beer Geek’s desk. It’s in a separate room, but there is no door between them. Negotiations led to 3 options: be off by 9am, run during his lunch (which may or may not be an hour, depending on meetings), or run in the evening.
I’m sure this will surprise most of you, but I chose morning. I know. I wasn’t excited. But when I woke up to the world looking like this:
I was glad I’d made a plan.
I dragged myself out of bed at 6:15 after a late bedtime and some middle of the night cat shenanigans. After a cup of coffee and bread with peanut butter, I hopped on the mill.
2 hours and 5 minutes later I got off. Yes, I ran 12.1 miles on the treadmill. A personal distance record. My feet are a little sore (I ran in socks, as per usual) and my back didn’t love it. But, it’s done.
I’d like to thank Beer Geek, my kindle, the Today Show, and my children (who slept until I was done) for making this possible. And I can’t forget my darling treadmill, without whom none of this would have been possible.
Can you tell I watched the Oscar coverage on the Today Show while I ran?
Next up, snow shoveling. No rest for the wicked.
Way to go! I don’t think I could hang on the mill that long!
That’s my favorite breakfast! I put banana slices on top of my almond butter toast…so delicious! Way to go on your run. Who likes the dreadmill? 🙂
Great job getting that long run done! I was stuck on the mill last weekend for 17 miles, it wasn’t TOO bad but I’d rather be outside!!
That is great that you did that long of a run on the treadmill! I’m convinced Mother Nature is bipolar. 🙂
My rainy, warmish 4 miles outside this morning sounds heavenly all of the sudden.
Way to stay focused and get it done. 6 weeks, baby, 6 weeks!
WooHoo – way to go on the 12+ miles on the treadmill!! I’m always amazed that you run in your socks on it – my feet would be dying!
That’s almost a half marathon. On the treadmill!! Very impressive.
When I read posts like this I am reminded again how blessed I am that I can run outside throughout the year.
oohh now OSCAR COVERAGE mightcould get me to run? 🙂
Great thinking making the plan the night before- I’m sure that helped! Nice longer miles on the mill too, way to get it done!
This seems like the most miserable winter ever. No matter where you go…the weather sucks. We headed
South this weekend and ran into a major ice storm. Grr.
That’s a lot of miles on the treadmill! I am impressed with your dedication!
I am super impressed! (With you, not the weather. The weather can bite me.)
12 miles? You go girl! The weather has been so crazy this year (even for us in the south). Great post!
Yeah, it was a crazy and brutal winter. 12 miles on the treadmill kind of sucked LOL.
