Shelly over at It’s Just One Foot in Front of the Other tagged me with a request for a view from my life.
This is the view out my kitchen window. It’s our side patio where we spend many an evening hanging out with friends sharing some good beers.
This is the view out my front door. Almost every run I take starts down one of the streets shown. You’d never know I’m a very short run away from the nation’s capital.
I’m going to tag a couple of people too. TMB and Marlene, show us what you see…
Taper madness continues unabated here. The weather today is PERFECT for running a marathon. Unfortunately, it’s supposed to warm up considerably by Sunday. Boo. I’m doing my best not to gain weight during taper, but the decreased miles combined with the “nervous eating” of every carb I can get my hands on is likely to add up at some point. Thank you for all of your comments about Jones. He seems to be feeling better. He definitely slept better last night. Sadly, Shoo decided that today was a good day to wake up at 6:30am. I’m trying hard not to stress about any speed goals. I keep repeating mantra “I know I can finish, I know I can finish” in an attempt to relax. So far, my legs feel good and I have no “mystery” symptoms to worry about. I’m keeping busy with some other deadlines and that is helping.
Repeat after me “I know I can finish”.
I'm psyched that you tagged me! I really wanted to do this. I'll be thinking of you on Sunday when I am pacing the hubs in his first half … in the blistering heat. I'm sure he'll be complaining more than you will!
You live in such a green part of the country! Our lovely green hills are turning to their normal California gold here and I'm sad :(Ah, taper – "I know you can finish – fast!" Happy Tuesday!
I CAN'T STOP EATING! lolThanks for the tag… will remember to snap pics tonight!
I like your mantra. During my long runs mine has been "Just keep swimming" from Finding Nemo. The absurdity of it puts a smile on my face. Well, smile-grimace. π
Great photos! How fun! Thanks for sharing!
You know you can finish! No doubt. Don't let the taper babble get to you. (and walk away from the carbs! walk away from the carbs!)I love your view. It looks so green and peaceful. It is hard to believe you are so close to the capital.
Yay for Shelly!! Love it!Happy Taper Tuesday to you!!
You can finish! The weather has been so up and down lately, hopefully it will be a bit cooler than forecasted for your day.Love the picture from your house–the DC suburban area is beautiful.
Great pics. Looks like a beautiful place!
You should sing:You can do ityou knew you couldso whip it (meaning the marathon)whip it good….ha sorry!I thought it would be funny and might relax some nerves! I love your view! I was in arlington on Friday down at pacers then I took the girls to whole foods and the park! I wonder if I was close?
Of course you can finish! I'll be cheering you on and repeating this mantra while I'm running on Sunday too π And I too have been consuming every carb that passes in front of me!
"I know you can finish" :)Looks like you live in a lovely area!
What a great view that the MCM Mama clan has! It is beautiful in your neck of the woods:)You are going to do fantastic! Just keep telling yourself and keep the faith:)

I KNOW YOU CAN FINISH!!!!!Love the views, glad Shoo is feeling better, and I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT!!!Are you serious that your 4.5 yo is still pulling stunts? Help me !!
BTW – I did the same thing with the carbs before my 1/2, can't imagine the damage I'd do if I did a full !!
I guess I meant Jones, ugh!
I'm glad that Jones is feeling better. I love the patio! It looks like a great place for friendly gatherings.
I love it! So pretty and green!
Okay. Good. I'm not the only person who dreads gaining weight during the taper. It sucks because I still have a huge appetite but instead of running a ton I'm lounging around.Worrying burns calories right? Ha. Hope you're having a good week! Just think at this time next week you'll be done. That's the thought I repeat to myself over and over again π
I know you can finish! You're going to do great! Thanks for sharing your view.
nervous eating, I totally hear you on that during taper…plus I swear all of a sudden my body is craving all kinds of food during tha time. But you are so close now!
I felt the same way with the carb loading! Ughhhh.. hard to not feel fat and sluggish! Just remember, you are doing it so you can run your best race. And, definitely you can finish – strong and fast. You will rock the race : )
lovely
Sounds like you're in a good place! The weather has been lovely in the neck of the woods, hasn't it? I'm not looking forward to my taper, however small it may be, either! Good luck!
Thanks for sharing the pictures! Good luck this weekend! I hope the weather cooperates. And you definitely can finish – you are going to do awesome!
love seeing the home photos! that's funand for your marathon..you can do it, you can do it!!
I found your blog a couple of weeks ago and I love it! It's been good 'hearing' from you again.I started running in January – so far, it's been great. My mental state is 100% better and those 20 pounds I was whining about are gone! I did the Bridge Run (10K) in Charleston in March and just did a 5 miler here in Columbia a few weeks ago. I'm contemplating a half marathon with a friend at the end of the year, but I'm not completely sold on that yet. We'll see.Good luck on your upcoming race! You'll do great!Melissa (palmetto_mama from LJ)
