OK, maybe I didn’t forget to run. Maybe it was more that life and my body wanted me to taper.
Remember last Monday when I ran 9 miles and hit 200 miles for the month of August?
Well, as of today, I’ve run 9.5 miles in September. I do plan to run today and tomorrow is a 16 mile run and Wednesday I will probably run twice, but yeah, last week was a washout when it comes to training. I could give lots of excuses (heat, Beer Geek traveling, busy schedule), but really it boils down to just not feeling the run love.
So let’s just skip past last week and talk about this coming week.
Here are my goals for the week:
- Get in my 8 mile run today and my 16 tomorrow and another 6 on Wednesday AKA the first of my 16 mile long runs for this training plan.
- Figure out what my outfits for Center of the Nation. It’s a good thing that I have so many skirts that 6 outfits is not a problem. I think the biggest problem is finding 6 pairs of underwear that won’t chafe during a half marathon LOL. That and the potential weather – I think layers are the answer.
- Get the kids to their first day of school on time, before I head off to run 16 miles. Guess this is not one of those years where the first day of school is coffee time with my mommy friends LOL.
- Get everything ready for my parents for next week. We have an insanely busy soccer schedule this fall and my parents are being dropped right in the middle of it. (Sorry mom and dad.)
- Buy snacks. We are going to the middle of nowhere USA. I eat a lot when I’m running a half marathon each day. I need to stock up on Kind Bars, Lara Bars, and trail mix. (Don’t worry, we’ll pick up some beer in Denver before we start our drive, because yes, I do drink a single beer every night before a race. Good carbs + it helps me fall asleep. Oh yeah, and I like beer, so there’s that.)
- Laundry, laundry, and more laundry.
- Participate in the first Mad Fox run club run.
It’s going to be a busy week! I can’t wait for next week though. The running is a lot of work, but the Mainly Marathon events are so much fun and I can’t wait to meet my new friends, since my Facebook friends always take a huge leap after these events LOL.
What are you up to this week? Is your race season about to kick off???
I’m linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippipiddlin for the Weekly Wrap.
Sometimes your body just needs a break. I think you were wise to listen to it. I didn’t run much last week either, mostly because I was out of town, at a class and (I don’t have a cross out function here so it will have to stand) basically lazy.
It sounds like the preparation and packing will be harder than the running. Target usually has a good supply of bars, although some are in their drug store section while others are in their grocery section.
I think all that training is like money in the bank for you. The time off probably did you some good! I’m looking forward to your recaps! And to see what skirts you wear.
I’m exhausted just reading about your week, lol!
ok so you wear underwear under the skirts? Interesting since they have the built in shorts I don’t. That would cause chafing for me. This might be an in person discussion 🙂
My body decided that it was taper time too. Not what I need in the middle of marathon training but when you’ve strained a muscle there’s nothing to do but wait till it gets better.
I feel like a woman without sport right now. Ordinarily I would consider myself a triathlete and say my season is winding down. However, I am really feeling the bike love and interested in trying some cyclocross this year, in which case my season is only getting started. The training volume will decrease while intensity increases for cross. So I guess I should say my season is shifting focus. At any rate – good luck with your goals this week! Back to school is always a crazy time.
It happens! Sometimes your body wants a break!
Sounds like a down week was a perfect “lull before the storm”. Yes, racing season is ramping up here as well. One more heavy week then a much-awaited taper. Does it ever get old?
Sometimes you just need a little break. I have no doubt you will get your runs in this week! Oh, you are going to have so much fun next week! I’m living vicariously through you! And, your parents can handle it…no worries there. Thanks for linking up with us today!
Smart to give your body a break when it asks for it!! You have a lot of running ahead and now you’ll be rested! Love your collection of running skirts!
You are going to have so much fun – can’t wait to follow along. Good luck with school tomorrow! All my kids have their first day tomorrow also 🙂
After all the miles you ran in August, your body definitely deserved the break. Don’t feel bad about taking one. We all need those every now and then.
So fun! I hope you have a great time! And meh, who cares about no running last week….early taper, no biggie 🙂
It always makes sense to listen to your body. You list is so immaculate.
You do have a busy week, lol you can do it! Love all the skirts! Lol on the beer every night! Have a great busy week!!! Thank you for linking up. Can’t wait to read about your week!
