1. Running has sucked this week. Truly sucked. On Monday I went out for a 3-4 mile run. At mile 2.5, my GI system ended the run. Since I live in an urban area, a tree was not an option. I’ve never been so thankful to see my front door. Tuesday I ran a mile after the bike. Thankfully, that one was uneventful. Yesterday’s run hit the trifecta – hot, hilly, and humid. Bleh. It took me almost 43 minutes to do 4 miles. Today is even hotter and I’m just not feeling the running love, so I’m taking the day off.
2. Today is the last day of preschool for this year for Shoo. Can you hear me freaking out? First, I’m sad because it’s been such an awesome experience for him and I’ll miss his teachers. Second, I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to run anything longer than four miles during the week. He’s not one to sit for long in a stroller and Beer Geek leaves early for work, so I can’t manage seriously long miles in the morning. I think I may have to just accept that this summer will be shorter (hopefully faster) runs and just enjoy the break from longer runs. I think I’ll try to get in at least one 10-13 mile run each weekend and I’ve signed up for one longer race each month, just to keep my endurance up.
3. I recently interviewed for a freelance gig and am the interview went really well. I’m absolutely confident I can do the work and do it well. However, now I need to start researching all the tax/social security, etc. implications of contract work (not even sure if that is different from freelance.) I know many of you have some experience in this area, so hit me up with “101” websites or publications. I’m way more nervous about that aspect than I am about the actual job LOL.
And, now, what I know you are really waiting for…
The boys chose three winners for me today…
Winner #1 is…
I have to admit that I’m super excited that X-Country2 won. If anyone deserves to win, it’s her – she just ran a 5k while 7 months pregnant with twins and she ran it faster than some of my recent 5ks!
Winner #2 is
Tonia over at Racing with Babes is one of my favorite running moms. When I grow up, I want to be like her (never mind that I’m at least 10 years older LOL).
Winner # 3 is
Missy at Ironman, IronThings, … just completed the Triple T! I bow down to her amazing fitness and mental strength!
My boys obviously have good taste in women. Hope someday when they start bringing home girlfriends, those girls are as awesome as today’s winners.
(Fine print: Email me at mom2shoo at gmail.com within the next 48 hours. XC2, you get first choice. TMB, give me your top 2 choices. Missy, give me your top 3. I hope to pull the next three winners tomorrow, but if not, I’ll do it Saturday.)
Stay tuned for more winners!
Weeeeeee! Thank you so much for the kind words and AWESOME prize. Those will get used FOR SURE! :o)
sorry about the poopy runs, um no pun intended. I went through this phase last week and did the unthinkable, I took a few days off. Now I am feeling better and the runs are improving
sorry about the not so great running week. Mine has not been so hot either. Just no motivation.Heres to better days!
I am in the same boat as you. I have to get out early and I have to make it QUICK! My run yesterday sucked!Congrats to the winners!
I don't know how I've missed a week of your postings! Ugh! I'm sooo sorry!Love the Last Mile shirt – very jealous :)Your 7 things post was awesome – I can't believe that photographer wouldn't let you take that patch off! At least it's got a good story! And yay for a BRICK workout! I will NEVER do a TRI either, I can't swim for garbage – plus, they are wicked expensive :)Congrats to the winners – all very cool ladies! And, as far as your new gig, you are probably now considered a 1099 employee. Go ahead and email me, I'm a tax accountant and I can help direct you if you like ๐
I demand your boys discard their obvious bias toward drawing only female bloggers or else I am going on a hunger strike – well except for beer.
Aww! Congrats on the great interview! Unfortunately I can relate on subject number 1, hello that sucks!
Ick, GI issues are the pits! Hope your tummy is better soon! I know when my kiddos were tiny (aka: anything which required a babysitter) I found a runner friend with the same situation and we kid swamped for an hour or two while we ran. Also, college kids area desperate for a few dollars. I've been in a crappy slump for eternity now but finally starting to feel better…it will come, hang in there!! Have a great weekend (almost).
Congrats Winners!!!Ugh, this heat is killing me and I am not feeling ANY running love this week. Have to force every step. BLAHHHH.
Too bad about the not so great runs. The humidity can't last forever, right?!Lucky winners! I'm jealous!
Ugh, I've definitely been there with the GI issues. Could it have anything to do with when you ran? I know for me, later in the day is always riskier! Either way, today was a good day for a rest day. I was out at 6:00 this morning, and the heat and humidity was almost unbearable even thing. Yeesh…
Good luck with the job. Congrats to the winners.
I'm so happy that when I bribed your boys it worked! I facebooked you the info!
GI issues are the worst! I think the heat can definitely exacerbate it. Also, don't discount the fact that you are only a little bit removed from a marathon–sometimes the legs want to rest more than the mind does!I hope the freelance gig works out.
fun new job! and congrats to the winners! thanks for hosting a giveaway;-)
I can't go far with my youngest in the stroller either…I try and just do those runs faster though. Sometimes I have the babysitter come so I can get my long runs in….which gets a bit expensive.:(Congrats to the winners!!
I know you're feeling bad about your sucky runs. But for me, who is in awe of all you 26.2ers, it gives me some peace knowing I am not the only one affected by the heat (if only at two or so miles ๐
Good luck on the freelancing! I hope your runs go better next week. Everyone has sucky weeks now and then!Oh and btw~beer+tomato juice=yummy! You should try it some time ; )
Congrats to the winners!I have also had a few yucky runs this week because of the humid weather and GI issues. I feel for you:)
Your giveaway is so cute!I'm also taking today off. Pretty rough out there for a run! (Thankfully I ran the past 2 days.)We alllll have those runs that are cut short by Nature Mama. As much as they suck, they really do build character. I'm a huge fan of taking it easier in the summer. This will be my first summer training for a race. Should be interesting!
I agree running in hot weather stinks!
Hmmmm I think I should have been #3 ๐ JK fun times.. My running has been less than stellar as well… TIRED and lady issues
That's a rough week! The weather has been a shock to the system.Good luck with the freelance job!
Congrats to the winners!I can't go far with BW in the stroller either and now I am single parenting for a while, but I imagine it is much more of a workout for you since your kids are probably much taller than mine. Good luck with the new job! Sounds exciting.
Congrats to the winners!I was soooo relieved on Thursday – I thought my run was going to be hella hot, but it ended up cloudy & windy by the shore. Whew!
So what is the freelance gig?? Am always looking for stuff like that!
