- On Wednesday, I couldn’t resist going for a run. I only did 2.5 easy miles, but they felt awesome. The only reminder of the marathon was a lingering soreness in my left quad. My knee that started hurting around mile 23 seems to be healed. I could barely walk at this point after my last marathon, so I’m a happy camper. As part of my run, I put my SPIbelt to a huge test. I needed to pick up a prescription, so I put my cell phone, keys and mini-wallet in the belt and ran to the store. On the way home, I had all of the above, plus the bottle of pills. While it looked kind of funny, rattled, and required that I turn my phone off because it kept taking pictures inside of the belt, it worked. The pharmacist didn’t believe I could get it all in there LOL.
- As part of my “Fit and Fast by Forty” plan (which I will officially kick off with the Rock Your Socks 10k this weekend), I’m trying to get back into better eating habits. To that end, I’ve temporarily given up added sugar. I’ve been on a major sugar binge for the last few weeks and I just need to get the cravings under control. So far, it’s been two successful days. It’ll be interesting to see if I can still choose an apple with peanut butter over something sweet after I’ve had a beer with dinner on Friday night.
- I am planning to get my RRCA coaching certification this fall. So far, the closest class is in Maryland on a weekend when I’m in Wisconsin. Sigh. I’ve heard rumors that they run a class around the Marine Corps Marathon in the fall, so I’m hoping that will pan out. I’m challenging myself to save up the money for the class from the small things I do that bring in what Beer Geek calls my “pin money” (online surveys, subbing at the preschool, selling the kids outgrown toys, etc.). There’s no real reason to do it as we can afford the class, but I want to see if I can. Beer Geek just rolled his eyes at me when I told him. LOL
Speaking of subbing, I’m spending today at Shoo’s preschool, subbing in the older class. I’m doing it in part because they needed a sub, but also because I want to explore that as a potential time filler once the boys are both in school. Gotta love a job where your clothing choices revolve around whether you can sit on the floor in them and if they are easily washable. ;o)
glad your feeling good! Have fun at preschool!
Sounds like you are bouncing back nicely!Enjoy the subbing gig today!
oh, it's so tough for me to give up sugar. I can do it for a few days, but then the sweets call out to me & I'm hooked again. Best wishes for your success. It's a good thing to cut sugars.Isn't it great to have an awesome short run? π
My quads were pretty painful on the run last night, but feel a ton better this morning. The post run ice cream was great too. OOPS!
I think it's fine to do a little run at this stage in the game, especially if you were craving it.Enjoy the RRCA training, but be prepared for a sore body after a LOT of sitting!
Good luck giving up sugar, you are a stronger woman than I am, lol! You'll have to let us know how it goes. Have fun at preschool: )
Glad you are feeling better and could run! I haven't attempted it yet π have a great day subbing!
Have fun today!! ;)Keep us posted about the sugar – I'm interested to know how it goes. Have a friend that gave it up and she is doing awesome.yay for a great run!
Nice run! I loved my SpiBelt, but I have to say I'm in love with my iFitness belt now :)Oooo, a coach! I hope you can find a class close!
I love that my race is your kickoff! Sweet! As for the coaching thing, call them. I originally registered for one in GA because it was the closest then two months later they added the VA one. The woman who does the schedule told us she only puts them out 6 weeks at a time. They might have some that would work for you but aren't on the site.
It's great to hear that you feel better after this marathon than the first one – you're getting to be a pro at them π Enjoy subbing!
I have a spi belt too and LOVE it. Don't know what I did witout it. π Good luck with the no sugar!
Good for you for getting out for a run!Have fun at preschool!
Have fun at the preschool π
I'm glad that the run went well! Haha. It sounds like the SpiBelt came through for you.
My sisters sub and love it! Plus you get summers off!! DO IT!
Good luck with the sugar. I never last very long, but that's mostly because I forget and steal an M&M from somewhere.
Oh oh! I need to try one of those belts!
Wow, I hope that I can feel as good as you after my marathon. I am impressed…you must have been totally conditioned:)I think that I need to get a bigger Spibelt because there is no way all ot the things that you listed would fit in mine:)
Nice job getting a run in. I bet you are a great sub at the preschool!
Sugar is a tough one for me too! I go through cycles with it, but sometimes I just have such a sweet tooth!Have fun subbing at pre-school.
Wow, out for a run already – way to go!
1. Nice Run2. I went on a "Summer is almost here time to start eating like it" grocery shopping trip tonight. No junk food. Healthy lunch options. Healthy snacks. A lot of fruit. Stuck to the perimeter of the store. Yawn.I'm pretty good about not eating sweets as long as I can have chocolate. If you're giving that up too you're really hardcore! And I'm impressed.3. How do you like subbing? I'm thinking about getting certified in Fairfax County as a "just in case."
