1. Are you familiar with the “Soup N.azi” from Seinfeld? The clerk at the post office today was totally channelling him. I accidentally got there 20 minutes before it opened (I thought it opened at 9, but it didn’t until 9:30). It wasn’t worth my time to go home and come back, so I was #2 in line. 10 minutes before the place opened, he came out and made sure everyone had all their correct forms filled out. Then he pointed to the sign that said “Please stand here until the clerk calls you” (or words to that effect) and told us to make sure we obeyed the sign. He opened the gate and then called the first person. When she was done, he continued doing stuff. I made sure to stand by the line and wait ’cause I knew if I stepped forward too soon, it was going to be “no postage for you”.
2. When I got up to the counter, package 1 and package 2 – no problems. Package 3 had liquids in it. He asked what liquids and I (idiot that I am) said Beer. He said, sorry no postage for you. In my head I’m thinking, “did I say beer? I meant NONALCOHOLIC beer”. Instead, I then took that package to Staples and mailed it UPS.
3. Next errand was to pick up coffee for the preschool Christmas party. I order, pay and go shop, telling them I’ll pick it up at 11:30. I go back at 11:20 and the guy tells me “sorry, we have no lids”. HUH? So, my next stop was Dunkin’ Donuts…
I hope all of your errands have gone more smoothly than mine did today.

Sounds like an interesting morning of errands…. "no postage for you!" lol
Too funny about the post office… oops!
lol – sounds like an interesting day π A little like my shopping day yesterday, except all my coffee was perfect π
LOL at No postage for you! I really hope my errands go better than that later today π at least they are all keeping you on your toes and providing good stuff for your blog!
Sad errand fail. I managed to luck out at the post office yesterday and get there right before a HUGE line showed up.
No postage for you! HA!
That is the perfect analogy for the postal workers this time of year. That's while I completely avoided the place this year and went to PakMail instead.
Post office people can be so mean! Feels like going to the RMV! Ironic but the postal clerk in my town won mattapoisett man of the year for being so friendly! I didn't know u cldnt mail beer, that makes sense. Hmm
How frustrating! Sounds like you handled it well and got business done despite the hurdles. I was in line at the post office yesterday for almost an hour. People were acting rushed and sometimes rude. I guess it's that time of year!
Sometimes it seems like you just end up on a bumpy road and it continues all day … hopefully you find a smoother ride the next time you are out and about π
Government employees can cut your nuT$ off, I swear. They gotcha and they know it.
Haha, glad you were able to get the beer shipped!
Postal workers. Aren't they a joy at this time of year? Maybe the weatherman will be wrong and you'll only get a dusting of snow?
