1. We are on track to have the hottest June on record. Do I really need to say more about that?
2. I am feeling a little overwhelmed lately. Perhaps taking on a new “assignment” just as my kids are getting out of school and we are wrapping up all of the school related stuff was not the smartest move ever. I feel like if I’m keeping up in one area of my life, I’m falling apart in another. I used to be able to give up hours of sleep and make it all work, but either the heat is sucking all the energy out of me or I’m getting old. ;o) 9:30 pm is starting to feel late to me and I’m still finding it impossible to get up early.
3. I ran four miles in shoes on the treadmill yesterday, hopped off, and got back on barefoot for another 1.1 miles. So far, I’m really loving the barefoot thing. A friend lent me a copy of Born to Run to read and I plan to pick up the book Jamoosh mentioned to read on our upcoming vacation. Unfortunately, I mistimed things, so I got to pick Shoo up from school looking like I’d been in a pool. I think it may have been the first time I’ve ever gone out in public in a running bra, but I was so sweaty I was going to have difficulty getting a shirt on.
(A couple of people asked for info on the Spy Museum. I put a review up on my other blog if you are interested.)

Kids out of school? Duct tape…
I can't balance anything in my life and I don't even have kids, so don't feel bad. We all suck at it. And those who don't are either lying or have a team of people doing the dirty work for them. 🙂
Balance is all relative. You do what you can. I don't even wanna talk about this heat…or the raging storms that come with it!
It's true, none of us can do it all. Sometimes finding balance just means that you feel okay about not getting everything done.
I think June is the new July! Hot, hot, hot!!!
this weather is ridiculous! I am over it. as of now. hear that, sunshine? GO AWAY!
So glad I got to be a part of such a hot June in DC – not! Last year I remember dying when I went to NYC. Maybe this year it will be nothing after the heat and humidity of DC. It does totally suck away all energy.
I'm sure everything will balance out soon and you'll feel better. Now if only it would cool off a bit!
I never feel like I've got complete balance. When one thing is going really well, it usually doesn't take long to figure out something else is falling apart. I've decided it's normal, because that makes me feel better. Good thing you have a vacation coming up – I hope that brings some calm back!
I completely feel you on the kids out of school thing…it's an adjustment, that's for sure. And it's a stressful one!Yes, we haven't had a summer like this in quite some time. I know you don't like it, but to me, it's still 10000% better than last winter!
We LOVED the Spy Museum, too cool! I am also reading Born To Run and ordered some marathon books from the library.Lol on picking up your son in a running bra, you are a brave woman!keep cool : )
Oooh, that's a whole lotta sweat if you had trouble pulling a shirt on!Balance comes & goes – if I can hold on to it for days at a time instead of moments, I'd be a happy camper.
I feel your pain on #2, and I don't have children to worry about! The boys are sure to be happy about just about anything once they are out of school – every kid loves summer vacation!
Too funny about the sports bra thing… at least your kids aren't old enough to "die of embarrassment" LOL… wait til they're a little older and everything you do will embarrass them 🙂
Finding balance is definitely a challenge and I am sure with kids it's even harder. kudos to you.
I feel overwhelemed at times too, but I don't even have kids!Enjoy Born to Run. It's a great read.
Totally know what you mean about the weather. The high for my next long run is only supposed to be 86 and I have been praying that it stays at that forecast or at least rains while I'm running. I have a hard time with balance at the beginning of a change and then once we work out a routine it is fine. It will get better!
You are not kidding about the heat, it is so draining!
