1. A huge shout out to MissZippy! There’s a guest post up by her over at Metro DC Mom. She was kind enough to write up a review for me on a local event that I haven’t attended, so go show her a little love there or at her blog.
2. “Mama Goes Masters” viritual race report #2 – the 4 mile edition. 4 miles in 35:33. I ran intervals on the treadmill today: 5 half mile intervals at an 8:07 pace. For some reason, this felt harder than the 8 minute full miles I did outside last week. Go figure. It was hot. I got sweaty. My awesome headband from Tonia at Racing with Babes stayed in place. What more can I ask for?
Thank you all for the awesome birthday wishes. It was great to wake up to lots of happy birthdays here and on Facebook. Really made my morning. I had a pretty good day. The boys and I went to the National Geographic Museum, which was pretty cool. Jones and Shoo gave me a lovely necklace. I ran the aforementioned mileage. Then we had Thai food for dinner and I drank one of my remaining Dominion Baltic Porters (one of the few left from when they brewed in VA). All in all, it was an awesome day. Still up – dinner at Mad Fox this weekend and then drinking with friends on September 11 (had to find a non-home game weekend). Stalkers are welcome on 9/11 as long as they buy me beer. ;o) And if you didn’t click over to my other blog, here’s what you missed…
3. I’ve gotten lots of fun race reports and gathered cool stuff. The winners of the 4 and 8.25 mile virtual races will get a pair of socks and a few energy type things (gu, nuun, bars, or the like). All of the 40K participants (I know of 3 so far) will get a little something special. I will then give out at least 3 (probably more) prizes to randomly selected winners. Prizes will include socks, a TMB headband (donated by the lovely Tonia), and whatever energy items I have left. Winners will be announced on Sunday (probably).*Disclaimer: All items except the headband were purchased by me.*
See the list of participants below. If there is not an * next to your name, I haven’t heard from you (or your email went to spam). If I don’t have your info by Saturday, you lose your chance to win a prize.) Thank you to all you awesome people who made my 40th birthday something to be excited about instead of something to dread!!!
