This has been kind of a crazy weekend.
Friday I spent my day on a 1st grade field trip to a nature center. It was pretty wild being out in the woods, but hearing planes practically landing on top of our heads. We saw deer and box turtles and frogs, but we were literally right in the middle of an urban area. After the field trip, I volunteered for a bit at Shoo’s school and then Shoo and I headed into the city to meet Beer Geek and Jones for dinner. Highlights of that trip? A guy dressed just like a pimp straight out of “I’m Gonna Get You, Sucka” and a drunk carrying an open bottle of red wine (+ a closed one) on the metro. Jones, of course, commented that “Mom, you aren’t supposed to drink on the metro.” (Because, yes, you can get thrown out for a bottle of water. Imagine how they’d react to a bottle of cabernet sauvignon…)
Saturday we spent in homework wars and then headed down to Charlottesville for a birthday party. We had a great time celebrating a friend’s 40th, but the four hours of driving on Saturday plus the two hours on Sunday plus no where enough sleep, meant I was pretty worn out by the time we got home.
But that wasn’t the end. Last night we celebrated Jones’ birthday. We took him and his two closest friends to watch Hotel Transylvania and then to Mad Fox Brewery for dinner. (Yes, I love that my nearly 11 year old chose a brewpub for his birthday dinner.) Then it was back to our house where they camped in the basement and played wii until I forced them to bed at midnight.
Did you notice what’s missing? Sleep and running. Yeah. I’m feeling fat, tired, and lazy.
Will I run today? That remains to be seen…
According to my snoring husband I don’t need sleep. Can’t do without running though. Hope you get your run on today.
and did you?
