I’m gonna be honest here – I’m the queen of the cheap sports bra. Most of my bras are the inexpensive ones from Kohl’s that just smoosh the girls on down. So, I’m perhaps not the best person to recommend a sports bra. However, since April and Patty suggested that we talk sports bras, I’ll talk bras. ;o)
I’ve recently realized that I need to treat the girls a bit better. After all, I’m not a young chic anymore (and am actually turning 45 today!) Thankfully, Skirts Sports has two sports bras that work for me.
I’ve mentioned before that if I put on a sports bra when I wake up, I’m a lot more likely to run or workout that day. Well, that’s great if I’m working from home or running first thing, but if I have to work out of the home or dress at all nicely, the smoosh’em down bras (especially in the super bright colors I like) don’t really work. A while back I got to try the Kelly bra and loved it both for running and it looks good under work clothes. Win!
Recently, I got a Sabrina bra (affiliate link) to try as well. It’s for sizes A&B. Since I’m what I call a B+, it works well for me. It’s a step above my usual sports bra, encapsulating each breast to provide support for high impact activities. I find it to be a bit less bra than the Kelly bra, but still supportive enough for me. I’m a 34C in my non-running bras, but the medium is a perfect fit. When it’s as hot as it has been lately, I love that it’s a bit less constricting and a bit cooler than the Kelly bra. I also like that it’s cut a bit lower under the arms, which is nice when I’m running in crazy humidity. I like it so much that I actually bought a second one with my Boobie Run certificate.
Speaking of Boobie Run, there are only a couple more weeks to register! If you register for the virtual race ($60), you get a $70 gift certificate AND money goes towards Skirt Sports awesome Kick Start program. Just register and run 8 miles or an 8k anytime the weekend of September 11-13! Even better, use code SSMCM20 and you can get 20% off the cost of the race AND the cost of the sports bra you buy with it. Hello, what are you waiting for????

What do you run in? Do you splurge on your sports bra or cheap out the way I used to?

Hmm I’ve never done a virtual run but that race is a great deal. I need more sports bra!

It is. Message me before you use your gift certificate.
I like Champion, but being rather small on top bras aren’t really a big thing for me. Hence my wandering off topic!
I actually do really need some new ones, though, so it’s still a good topic. 🙂

Bras used to be where I cheaped out, but I’m getting better about it.
I still buy the cheap bras to wear for BodyPump and under some everyday tanks but spend a bit more for better running bras. I don’t have much to support so I can get away with the less expensive versions. LOL

Anything where I’m bouncing, I need a bit more support. I can get away with less for yoga and cycling.
Happy Birthday! I have been wanting to try Skirt Sports’ bras, so I am signing up for the Boobie Run! Thanks for the link and discount code.

Woot! Woot! Don’t forget to use the code when you use your gift certificate.
I was all about cheap sports bras in high school and college, but I do splurge now. I do have a $$ ceiling so that does limit me, but I found a great style for me.

I love the sales at Skirt Sports. That’s when I stock up.
I still buy cheap sports bra…usually from target. I don’t need a lot of support and they are comfy so I have been happy with them!
Happy Birthday!

I like the tad more support I get from the Sabrina bra and the Kelly is awesome under real clothes if I’m planning to run later.
All I buy are super cheap “smoosh em down” bras, lol…I really need to look into some better brands that are more comfortable!

Ah, I’m right there with you with needing to treat the girls a bit better. This past year I finally started buying better sports bras. I LOVE my bra from Skirt Sports 🙂 And I will also be participating in the Virtual Boobie Run– woot woot!

Umm, yeah, you and I live in different worlds when it comes to bras.
Happy birthday!! (And yes to cheap bras!) 🙂

Thanks!
Oh I am victim to cheap sports bras too. That’s probably the reason for my chaffing 🙂 Also, happy birthday!! I hope it was a wonderful day.

I’ve never chafed (thankfully) from a running bra, but these are quite comfortable.
I cheaped out for YEARS until I realized mine may be little but they can uh…SAG STILL 🙂

We aren’t going to discuss sagging. I refuse. ;o)
Boobie Run! Love it, haven’t heard of it before. I use basic underarmour sports bras most of the time. I reserve my “prettier” ones for yoga and stuff that doesn’t involve the copious quantities of sweat I generate while running or cycling.

Ha! I sweat copious amounts even in yoga…
Wow, both of those bras sound great. I’ve been a tried-and-true Fiona wearing (from Moving Comfort) but that Sabrina bra sounds good. And I may have to do that Boobie run too!!

Do it! And the discount makes it an awesome deal.
Believe it or not, I use cheap $16 sports bras from Target. I probably need to invest a bit more so I don’t pay for it down the road!

The Skirt Sports ones are quite nice and not terribly priced either.
