TOTR: Fall Race Schedule

August 11, 2015 by MCM Mama 27 Comments

Here we are, a good chunk of the way through summer. Some kids are heading back to school (not mine, sigh) You are almost half way through marathon training if you are doing a mid-late October marathon. 20 mile runs are popping up on the calendars.

So, of course, Patty, April, and I want to know: What’s your fall race schedule???

Fall PRs

My schedule feels kind of light, but it’s really not: 7 half marathons and 1 marathon. (OK, maybe what’s bothering me that I’ll only have a total of 10 races at the half or longer distance this year. No 15 in 2015 for me.)

Here’s my plan:

ArtCON-2

Source: Mainly Marathons

Center of the Nation Series: 6 half marathons in 6 states in 6 days at the beginning of September. This is another of the Mainly Marathon Series and I can’t wait to add North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Montana, and Wyoming to my competed states list. Even better, I will run my 40th AND my 45th half marathons during this series.

runners world code with date

Runner’s World Half and Festival. I’ve been invited to participate and at this point I’m planning to run the trail race, the 5k and 10k (five and dime), and the half marathon (hat trick). Yes, I know – that’s 26.2 miles the weekend before I run 26.2 miles. I never claimed to be entirely sane.

Marine Corps Marathon

Marine Corps Marathon. I couldn’t resist the round number, so I’ll be running the 40th MCM this fall. I ran it in 2008 and it’s an awesome race, but I had completely forgotten how much I dislike heavy training during the summer. It’ll be a while before I make that mistake again. ;o)

That’s it. I feel like there should be more. Anyone want to take any bets on me caving and running another race between CON and Runner’s World?

How about you? Got one A race and some smaller races or do you have multiple big deal races on your calendar for the year?

I LOVE the quote about summer sweat–that is so the truth here in Virginia! I’ve got a good mix of local smaller races and bigger races I have to travel for. Have a great race season!!

You better do MCM for its 40th 😀 I feel like it is only fitting! That CON series means business, my friend. But you’ll rock it out. That’s playtime compared to some of the others that you’ve done!

Your schedule looks plenty exciting to me! Way to hit so many states toward your goal! This year I will have done nothing to chip away at the marathon majors, sigh. But my schedule is still pretty exciting.

Wow! Sounds like you’ve got some awesome races lined up. I give you major kudos for all the back to back racing 🙂 My fall race plans aren’t too exciting, I would love to do some traveling for some races but I just can’t swing it this year. Im looking forward to reading you recaps of these events 🙂

I have some smaller things planned for the fall. (Well, I guess three half iron distance aquabikes, plus some “for fun” cyclocross races). I definitely look forward to hearing your recaps!

I prefer to take it easy during the summer so my bigger races tend to be January through May. Good luck with all the races and MCM.

Whoa 7 halfs and 1 full..you go girl!!!

I hope to not have an early game on MCM day so I can be out there cheering. So many people I know (personally or virtually) are running and I just want to be out there to support :)!!!

Yes training in the heat is for the birds!!! I prefer training in the cold….remind me of that next year as I sign up for more fall races…lol!!

Good luck training and with your races and I hope to see you at MCM!

Your schedule is so busy! Good for you! I’m really hoping to do MCM one day. I’ve heard it’s a great race, and it’s in my favorite city and I would be able to stay with family while there. So many reasons TO do it! Maybe 2016 will be my year. 🙂 Good luck with all your races!

I am so envious of your upcoming race schedule! The Center of the Nation Series sounds AMAZING. I’m on a mission to visit all 50 states and there are a few on that list that I haven’t been able to cross off the list, yet. And I’ve heard great things about the RW Half and Festival, and of course about the MCM. So pumped for you to experience all that these events have to offer!

In my opinion you have a lot on your fall schedule! I have the Pike’s Peak Ascent this weekend, and then two fall race– Wineglass Half and Marine Corps Marathon. Super excited for MCM! I totally know what you mean about training through the summer though. Not my favorite either. My past two marathons were early winter and late winter so most of my runs were done in cool/cold temperatures.

You must purchase that Mainly Marathons photo with Mt. Rushmore in the back (to match the one we got in PA!), it is so awesome.
I knew you were crazy to train this hard through the summer, but it will be worth it in the fall when this is all over.
Nice photo of you running in New Jersey, BTW.
