Today on Tuesdays on the Run, the topic is “Runners That Inspire You”. Join April, Patty, and me and share who inspires you.
Here are *5* runners that inspire me for various reasons:
1. My dad. I’ve talked about him before. He’s been my favorite running partner for years and he ran his first half marathon at age 65. He has a mental toughness that I’ve never been able to achieve.
2. My friend Caroline. She was the pusher who got me into running races. Who knew she was creating a monster???
3. My friend Deb. She’s one of the ladies who runs/walks the Mainly Marathons races. She is always out there with a smile, getting it done and supporting everyone else who is out there. She was the one who inspired me to run two marathons in two days. She is also about to start a quest to reach the top level of Double Agents, which requires a ridiculous number of marathons AND half marathons in a year. I want to be her when I grow up.
4. All of the ladies who are Skirt Sports Ambassadors. We come from all walks of life and do all sorts of sports and run the gambit of ages. But everyone is getting out there doing their thing and supporting other women in their pursuit of health and fitness.
5. All the MRTT moms in the chapters I belong to. No matter how fast or slow they are or how far they are running, they are out there getting their run in and supporting all the other running moms. I’ve met so many amazing moms through these groups.

Aww, I love that you chose your dad!
Thanks!
Aww, I love that your dad is your #1. I wish I could convince my dad to run with me. He’s the reason I started running in the first place!
I’m lucky to have a dad like I do.
Love that your dad is still running with you. I wish I had something like that to do with my dad. And I can tell you one thing….YOU inspire me. Your dedication to all of your crazy races is completely inspiring!!
I know – I love that we can run together. And you are too sweet – I’m just a bit crazy LOL.
I love that your Dad runs with you. That would motivate me to keep going any day.
It’s very motivating – especially since he is faster than me.
My parents inspired me to start running. They’d been running for years before I tried it out.
So cool that your parents inspired you.
So many amazing strong runners in your life. It is hard not to want to be a runner with so much inspiration around!
Funny thing is that I wasn’t really a runner until after I had kids. Now I just can’t quit it.
My most inspirational runners are never the elites, but normal people who love to run and make it happem
So true!
Both of my parents (but especially my Dad) enjoyed running before I even considered trying to run a race. They had taken a break for a while, but my running inspired both of them to pick it back up! I would love to run a race with them one day! That’s wonderful you get to run with your Dad.
You should. It’s been so fun running races together.
I loved how you picked people close to you! My dad is definitely a big inspiration to me- he’s the one who got me to start running, and even at 50+ he still beats me in races!
My dad regularly beats me at races. So cool that your dad runs with you as well.
That’s an inspiring group for sure!!! 🙂
They really are!
Your dad is so cute! How special that you run with him!
Thanks, it’s one of my favorite activities.
I love that you get to run with your dad!! That is so cool that you all share the love of running. I’m the one who pushes my friends to run races. I’m always sending suggestions for fun races. A little positive peer pressure.
Good for you for being a pusher. ;o)
I am so impressed by your dad and love that you chose him!
I hope to be running and setting new distance records for as long as he has!
You are so lucky you have an active dad! How fun that you get to run with him!
I know. Running with him is one of my favorite activities and I always run faster with him than by myself.
It’s so great that your dad has been able to serve as such a great inspiration for you!
He’s pretty awesome. I’m very lucky.
totally agree that there are so many inspirational women out there to be motivated by. Love our women’s running community.
MRTT rocks!
I just love it that your Dad ran his first half marathon at age 65! So very inspirational. You are lucky to have him in your life.
I know.I think my parents were crazy having a kid so young, but it’s awesome having a youngish dad.
It’s so great that your Dad runs. Neither of my parents were or are athletic so I really envy that.
He’s super athletic, which I was not as a child, so I love that we can run together now.
