TOTR: Three running wishes

February 20, 2017 by MCM Mama 25 Comments

Do you ever dream about just making a wish and having it come true? Are there things you’d choose if wishing on a shooting star really worked or someone handed you Aladdin’s lamp? I’m a big believer in working hard and striving for your dreams, but sometimes it’s nice to think about what I’d wish for. Today on Tuesdays on the Run, we are talking about what we would wish for in regards to running.  Here are my three wishes.

three-running-wishes

I wish I could get fast again without getting injured. I can run forever and as many days as I want, as long as I run slowly. But when I start incorporating speed work and push a bit harder, I feel like my body starts to rebel. I’d love to go back to the days when I was constantly pushing myself to go faster without my body complaining. Alas, I’m getting old, which leads me to my next wish.

I want to run forever. I mean, I want to be that 90+ year old that amazes everyone by still running races. I know I won’t live forever, but I want to be running for as long as I’m living. I have so many places that I want to run that I’m pretty sure it will take me that long to run them, which of course, leads to my third wish.

I wish I could have all the time and money I needed to run all the races I want. And maybe some ability to time travel as well. After all, I have multiple races I want to run on the same dates this spring. Between kids, work, and other financial priorities, I’ve had to limit how many non-local races I’m running this year. (Thankfully, one of the local race companies had a fabulous preseason deal AND I won a free entry to another race, so I still get to get my race on.) Sorry kids, I’ll be spending your inheritance on races.

What are your three wishes for running? Do you have a secret dream to share with us?

Gosh, I never thought of the financial aspect LOL But, YES, I wish I could just jump on a plane and get to any race that catches my eye without jeopardizing our kids’ college endeavors.

I wish that I could run during IVF, get back the speed I lost over the last year and a half so that I could be even in the ball park of close to my old speed, and I REALLY wish for never being injured again 😀

Yes to all. Injury free would lend itself to the longevity aspect. Now if I could get that money tree in the yard to grow already…

These are great wishes! I wish I could be faster and have the funds to run ALL the races! My three wishes were to have a running buddy to travel with, the motivation and time to tackle a second marathon (and that no one would get sick during training), and run a destination race wherever I choose!

Having never been fast, I’d just like to get faster — period! And definitely without my body rebelling, which it likes to do, too. Could be a runfession this week.

And I want to run the rest of my life, too. After all, I’m late to the party!

Wouldn’t it be fantastic to be healthy and still running at the age of 90? That’s a wonderful wish. Hey, just showing up would probably get you an age group award! HAHA. Thanks for the linkup.

Winning a race would be nice, but having the hotel paid for would be even better. I can pay for travel to get myself there, but all the other expenses paid by the race would be great 🙂

I, too, wish to be running well into old age. I think I’ll try to race for a few more years, but then I’ll turn off the competitiveness and just run for fun. I tell myself I’m running for fun now, but I know how I get at the starting line so… 😉

February Runfessions: The Longest Short Month Ever

You know how short weeks at work often feel longer than a normal week, just because you still need to do the same amount of work in fewer days? Well, February always feels that way for me and this February was no exception. It’s been… a month. I’m joining Marcia to runfess my sins (and […]
