Do you walk out your door and hit the road? Head to your basement or workout room and jump on the treadmill? Fit in a run near your office during lunch? Inquiring minds (or April, Patty, and myself LOL) want to know.
So here’s where I run…
Before kids, when I worked downtown, I used to run around the monuments. The scenery was awesome. The tourists, not so much.
Now I have no rhyme or reason to my running. Sometimes I head out my front door. Sometimes I run on the Marine Corps Marathon route (obviously without all the runners LOL).
Sometimes I run with friends on one of the many local paved running/biking paths.
When all else fails, I hit the treadmill…
Where do you run? Do you drive someplace to run or just hit the road from your front door?
And Jill and Jessica posed the question: what would you do if you had 10 minutes to fit in something healthy.
Here’s what I’d do:
If I don’t want to get sweaty: go for a 10 minute walk.
If I don’t mind getting a little sweaty: lift weights or jump on my Fit Desk bike.
If I don’t mind getting a lot sweaty: I’d run as far as much mileage as I could on my treadmill.
I also love to grab a workout off of Pinterest and do that quickly, but I’m not usually organized enough to find a workout and do it in 10 minutes.
Share your favorite 10 minute workout with me. I’d love some more ideas!

It’s great that you have such a wide variety of options for running near you!

It’s fun to see where people do their training! Great post idea. If I have 10 minutes, I grab one of my workout notebooks and do an old workout quick, or hop on my rowing machine.

I lived in MD 1 yr . . . I loved walking around DC! I wasn’t a runner then. I haven’t been back since . . . 30 yrs!

I live in an apartment complex off a major road so it’s not as easy to just step right outside my door for a run. Thankfully I have two county parks with in 10-15 minutes from me, so I usually resort to running there.
Running by the monuments sounds like so much fun and definitely a scenic run, wish I had something cool like that in Florida. Thanks for hosting the link up! 🙂

I love that you have lots of walking/running paths. Those are my favorite places to run because they are usually the safest.
I would love to run around DC…without the tourists 🙂

Do the beers glasses inspire you to finish your treadmill runs?

You have so many fun options to run! I usually just head out my front door unless I’m meeting friends to run. I have trails near my house, as well as roads, so I usually just keep it simple, and do something nearby.

I love, love, love DC. My dream city. I ran around some of the monuments last time I was in town. A friend of mine took me out and we were out early enough that tourists hadn’t completely taken over yet. 🙂 Next time I’m in town, I’m looking you up!

So many options! I agree that with 10 minutes, it’s all based on how sweaty I can/want to get!

I wasn’t huge into running when I lived in DC (Georgetown) but I did love running on the C&O Canal, and down toward the monuments! #jealous

I usually drive somewhere, because I live in a HILLY neighborhood. But sometimes I just run out the door for 15 minutes, too. Oh, and I love your treadmill pic, with all of the beer glasses!

It would be great to actually get in a run and SEE something worthwhile! But it’s a simple right-out-the-door at dawn for me. I don’t have time to go anywhere these days. My hood is very quiet so it works well.

Ahh…I miss running in DC! When I lived there we hit Rock Creek park from the north end in Gaithersburg and run toward DC. We also did Capital Crescent into Georgetown. But running through DC is just special.

Before I had kids I loved running in Central Park in NYC. But after my second pregnancy that wasn’t happening anymore. I had to stick to my immediate neighborhood, Downtown, in order to make it home fast after my run. After moving to Florida, a year ago, it seems like I get sweaty no matter what run I go out for, it’s always hot! But I love running along the Atlantic Ocean. Nothing quite compares.
For a short run I run in my neighborhood. The scenery doesn’t matter to me as long as I get the work done. So funny to read about the Pinterest workout! I always pin them but never get around to do them! But they look great (on my board!) 🙂

I used to only ever run from my door. And then I met other runners and now I run where the group’s running.Preferably where there’s a coffee shop at the end.

Its good that you have a few options for running! And the treadmill is definitely helpful for days when the weather is bad or you just can’t get out. I usually just run in my neighborhood, but I am hoping to try some different areas in the near future!
