1. Last night was Jones’ winter concert. He started playing the cello this fall, so we got to attend the annual band, orchestra, and chorus concert. The concert was surprisingly good. It was probably helped by the fact that the beginning strings section is not using bows yet and we were spared the sound of 30+ cats being tortured.
2. One of the blogs I read, Roc the Run, posted about “what would you choose if you could only have 10 foods (and 5 seasonings) for the rest of your life.” Is it bad that my first thought was beer and my next was coffee? LOL Then I sat down and thought about it (and decided beverages don’t count) and came up with a list:
Foods
- chicken
- eggs
- bread
- apples
- bananas
- cauliflower
- arugula
- mushrooms
- cheese
- onions
Seasonings:
- black pepper
- cinnamon
- basil
- cumin
- dried chipotle powder
What would you choose if you could only have 10 foods?
3. Even when it sucks, running has been great lately. I’m not fast, but I’m faster. My endurance is slowly coming back. Nothing hurts. This may just possibly be affecting my thinking process. I may have tweeted yesterday about doing 12 half marathons in 2012. There may be thoughts of a very late fall marathon running through my head. There may be significant progress made on my 50 states goal. Last night I was a bit like an ADD rabbit on speed looking at race sites, completely unable to narrow down my goals. Sadly though, my life doesn’t exist in a vacuum. I have budget constraints, time constraints, and, oh yeah, two kids. So, sometime in the next couple of weeks, I’ll start penciling in my race calendar for 2012, which will be busy and challenging, is not likely to be as crazy as it was last night.
I'm impressed that cauliflower and arugula are on your list! I like both, but don't think they'd make the top 10… def apples and bananas, probably avocado, tomatoes, cheese, peanut butter, spinach, chickpeas, oats and dk chocolate.
Ha! I thought of wine! Love to roast cauliflower, yum.
Glad to hear that your running is coming back to you! Artichokes, bagels and chocolate would definitely be on my list.
Just 10 foods? Oh man, that is hard!!! I wouldn't choose arugula, that's for sure. :pThis is assuming I actually care about my health with this list. If not, it would be VERY different. chickencheesebread (can this encompass other bread products, like bagels?? lol)eggschickpeashummusred pepperapplesgrapeschocolate
Dude!!Where's the pickles?!?!
not using bows? what ARE they using?!
That 10 foods thing is tough! I'm not even gonna try! 🙂
perhaps 10 kinds of chocolate?! that's so hard to decide!!found you through fitfluential 🙂
Wow–the 10 foods list would be tough! I like yours. I'll be interested to see what you come up with for 2012! It's so much fun to plan it out.
10 foods? Bagels and bananas for sure. Tuna fish – the canned kind! I would totally put coffee but I don't have to since it's a beverage. I am not sure about the rest.
i recently did the same thing..writing down races that i want to do next year…planning my 2012 calendar. i kept running into the same problems you did…time, money, kids, work…. i need to take a year off and just do races all over the country!!
