It’s been (is still being) an expensive week around here. February is when we end up purchasing our tickets for our summer vacation + summer camps AND we are having some technology issues. Even though we save up for it and I have the money, I swear I can hear my credit card crying from overuse.
1. Last week, my Garmin went from perfect to refusing to hold a charge for more than a day. I have to give it a soft reset every single time I use it and it now resides on the charger whenever I am not actually using it. Anyone else had this happen? I’m not loving the runkeeper app (seems to run down my battery super fast + isn’t as accurate, which may be the phone, not the app) and I really really don’t want to buy a new Garmin right now. I’d love any advice you have!
2. Yesterday, I went to yoga and was the only one in the class. I’m sad ’cause this means that particular class will be cancelled, but I had an AMAZING workout. The instructor basically gave me a private lesson and spent a lot of time fixing my poses. Then she did some targeted core work and stretches with me (holy hell are my quads tight). At the end of the session, she showed me how to use the yoga blocks and I did a full on back bend!!! I haven’t done a back bend since I was a kid. I get why celebrities workout with their own yogi. Anyways, it was awesome and I now know exactly how my muscles are connected. How do I know that? Because every time I move, some muscle that I don’t think I moved, protests. Yeah, I’m hella sore.
3. I’ve spent the last few days working on our summer vacation. I finally managed to nail things down (and actually buy plane tickets), so I now know which states I’ll race in this summer. 2012 will be the year we finally get back to Oregon and Washington! (I’ll also be hitting up the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Connecticut between now and August). If you live near/in these places, hit me up on the comments. I’d love to meet up with you!

Ugh. Dealing with a Garmin on the fritz too. I blame it on it’s age. :/ Hope you figure yours out soon!
i love it when plans finally come together! good luck with all your races!
love yoga, glad you got one on one..bummer if the class cancels
I love my Garmin but i haven’t needed it for a while now. One thing to remember about all batteries even lithium ion is to Fully charge and Drain them on a regular basis, Don’t leave them in the cradle charging for days…ask my Laptop how i know this 😉 haha Yoga is great!
call garmin? sometimes they have magic tricks up their sleeves.
I read somewhere that Garmin support says that Garmin’s lose 25% of their battery life every year you have them…so they’re essentially done after 4 years. I’ve only had mine for 6 months so not sure if this is true, but maybe it could be the cause of your problems?
I don’t have a garmin, but that is VERY frustrating! I am jealous of your private yoga class!! Glad you had an amazing workout!
I have always left my Garmin charging whenever it’s not in use. That way there’s no chance of a low battery!
Sounds like fun plans for the summer. I’ve heard that Oregon and NC are just gorgeous.
I hate the soft reset. I always forget to go back and change my settings. Then I wonder why I have run a zillion miles without a beep…
i have the 405 and someone told me to turn the satellite OFF when I’m not using it because otherwise it’s constantly searching for satellites…might help? Just remember to turn it back on when you are using it! 🙂
woot for Oregon! What race are you doing?
When I read private yoga I thought that it meant the kind of private yoga I do – in my lounge room with only two dogs for company. Having your own private instructor is so posh!! Don’t get used to it.
I use runkeeper because I’m too cheap for a Garmin, but it can be pretty inaccurate. Any time I hold the phone in my hand and run, I get 2min. miles. Yup, nowhere near that fast so something is definitely off.
Summer sounds like a great time to visit Oregon & Washington. I am thinking about going to BlogHer in Washinton in June.
And too bad your class will be cancelled. but ultra cool for the ‘private’ lesson. Always great when you get poses corrected because you really can feel the difference and know you are working the proper muscle groups.
The private yoga session would be great. Sometimes it’s nice to be the only person there.
Bummer about your Garmin! Can you do a full reset?
OH the mere thought of private yoga starts me relaxing….
