- Today is Shoo’s first day of preschool. I have a tour of a waste water treatment plant, so I won’t be dropping him off. I’m pretty sure that puts me high up there in the “Worst Mom of the Year” competition.
- Yesterday I spent the day at a drinking water treatment plant. Ironically, I ended up dehydrated.
- Driving in rush hour traffic with a stick shift is a pretty accurate definition of hell.
- A (really cool) three hour walking/standing tour + not drinking enough water + a long commute home = no running.
- Today is pretty jam-packed as well. If I don’t find time to run today, I might just cry.
What have I learned from all this? I like the flexibility of not working a full-time job. I’d rather run during the day or right after Beer Geek gets off work and then work late at night than get up early to run or run after a full day at work. Right at the moment, I’m doing a lousy job of balancing all my roles. I’m really hoping having Shoo in preschool will let me get my feet under me. I’m really tired of feeling like I am constantly rushing from one thing to the next and only barely finishing every thing I need to do. And some day soon, I’d really like to have time to read and comment on more than a blog or two a day. And not getting many miles in is absolutely not helping me. ;o)
When my kids were that age, all I ever seemed to do is drive in circles. I think it just comes with the territory.
So sorry you're having trouble finding balance, but I'm sure you'll get there. Good luck getting in a run today!
I agree with Lisa…that's par for the course with kids that age. We can do it all, but not all at the same time. You'll figure out how to balance it all…
I can totally relate to your post today! Finding that balance has been hard for me lately as well. I have to keep reminding myself that my kids will be grown before I know it.. Hope you are able to find time to get your run in!
Loved this post……my fav: "•Yesterday I spent the day at a drinking water treatment plant. Ironically, I ended up dehydrated"Awesome.Hoping you get your run in today. 🙂
just breathe. Give it a couple of days of the boys being in their school routines and you'll start to figure it out and find your own routine. It'll be ok 🙂
Your blog should be called BUSY Mama! Hope you can juggle everything around this week to fit in some runs and maybe even some downtime!
All I have is me, as of right now, and I can't imagine what it will be like when I am married and have kids of my own to worry about – besides ME. You're doing great!
I hope you get some miles in. I have been struggling to get some in as well and its not fun.It will get better though 🙂
Keeping that balancing act going is the toughest part! And I don't even have kids! Major props to you running moms out there!
You're doing a great job of balancing it all – and not every week will be this crazy!Good luck getting the run in!
I know what you mean — some days are so hectic, it's hard to catch your breath let alone do anything for YOU.Good luck trying to find the right balance!
Busy, busy, busy. I love driving stick shift no matter what. But my commute to work is through a national park, and I only rarely have to drive in rush hour. Good luck tackling life. Cheers!
Honestly, the fact that you *can* work and blog and run and be a great mom to kids as young as yours makes you a hero in my book! When mine were that age, I called it a successful day if I took a shower.I hope you can squeeze in a few miles today, it'll make everything better!
Good luck trying to find the balance!
Balance – that is the key. As many before me have stated – although we can do it all – it is pretty hard to do it all ALL the time. Relax – don't be too stressed out – won't help anything. Once the routines get settled in – you will fit more things in. 😉
