I didn’t plan to participate in Miss Zippy’s Year in Running post this year, because I have a number of “wrap up” posts coming in the next couple of weeks. However, Patty, April, and I decided to make this a free week and I couldn’t resist since I did this in both 2013 and 2012. I enjoyed reading the older posts, so I’m doing this for me – so I can look back again next year.
Best Race Experience: This year was full of amazing races. In fact, I’m going to go more in depth on that tomorrow, but I’d have to say that the Riverboat Series was the best experience of all. Some of the individual races kind of sucked, but I was surrounded by friends and that made even the worst race the best.day.ever. (To quote my one of my favorite bloggers.)
Best Run: I just love to run. Even when running isn’t awesome, it’s still the best thing ever. It completes me. So, every single time I manage to get out the door is the best run ever.
Best new piece of gear: My Garmin 220. I love it. I tried to love the Bia, but we could just never get there. But from the first moment I put on the Garmin, I was happy. Apparently I’m brand loyal…
Best piece of running advice you’ve received: “If you run, you are a runner.” I’ve been struggling with my speed and some issues with my foot and sometimes that brings me down. But the fact that I am out there running, means I’m still pursuing my dreams. It’s not about speed for me. It’s about continuing to run until I’m running with a walker. I figure I have at least 40 more years of running ahead of me. ;o)
Most Inspirational Runner: I can never name one person for this. If you are out there running, you inspire me.
If you could sum up your year in a couple of words, what would they be? Goals met. I started the year with a stretch goal and I did it. It was an unbelievable ride.

Sounds like you had a great year of running, and congrats on meeting your goals! I love your running advice too!
You had a great year of running! I’ve considered upgrading my Garmin too but so far my Forerunner has been okay! Looking forward to continuing to participate in the link ups in 2015!
Well I, for one, am glad you decided to join in! You’ve had a really great year this year…so many races! And I like what you said about your best run. I’m in the same boat–as long as I am running, it’s a good run. Best of luck next year.
You’ve had a great year of running! Here’s to even greater things coming your way in 2015!
You’re right that it’s important to remember that anyone who runs is a runner. Now that I’m pregnant, I’m having a hard time being ok with my slower pace. But, as long as I’m getting out there, I’m doing what I need to do
Sounds like it was a great year of running for you. Running completes me too– I really understand that statement! Enjoy your holidays !
I love these posts – it’s fun to read about your year!
Wow, congrats on meeting your goals this year! The Riverboat Series sound like an awesome time…I could barely handle a 5K and half in the same weekend, great work!
You had a great year! I love the “if you run, you are a runner”. I tell all of the new MRTT members that are afraid to run with us this. I think it’s working. Would love to guest host sometime next year with you all!
Wow! An incredible year of running. Here is to lots of miles and fun in 2015!
“It completes you.”
So true.
Great year Erika!
You had an amazing year…and seriously? YOU are my running idol…
Great job with your year in running! Such a fun recap to reflect upon the year ! 🙂
What a fantastic year of running! I can’t wait to see what the new year has in store for you!!! Love this post, may have to write one of these on my blog too! Your link-up looks fun. I am going to try to join more link-ups this year!
I love that quote…if you run you are a runner. A friend of mine recently overheard a conversation between a couple of people where they said that newer runners like to match. Real runners don’t match their clothes. Hmm…
Congratulations on your year of running!
I was hoping you would share a year of running. I enjoy following your running journey. #inspired
If you run, you are a runner. I love that. I still struggle with calling myself a runner (so weird I know). Very impressed with your Venus level. CONGRATS! I’m not there yet. If I do the double in January, I will be Jupiter.
You really did have such a great year with so many races! It’s been fun to tag along on your journey – can’t wait to see what you take on in 2015!
I can’t wait to see what all 2015 has for you in the way of running!!! Hooray for meeting your running goals.
