I don’t usually post on Saturdays, but I’m feeling the need to do a mind dump because my brain is spinning way too fast for me to keep up. If we were to meet up for coffee in person, you’d find that I’m all over the place, going about a mile a minute, so it seems highly appropriate that I join up with Jill, Nikki, and Lynda at the Ultimate Coffee Date…
So, pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee, and be prepared to not get a word in edgewise. I promise I’ll be a good listener once I’ve gotten all of the totally unconnected thoughts out of my head…
If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you that I’m going to Florida on Monday for a blogger event with Gatorade. I’m alternating between panicking (because I need to pack, get the house in order, prep everything for the family for the week…) and over the top excitement (because umm, hotel room by myself, Florida, interesting topics with interesting people…) I’d also probably mention that I only ran once this week, so my stress levels are really high and it’s not helping me handle things.
If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you that, somehow, I’m hosting a small get together next Saturday. Never mind that I’m in Florida for three evenings, Shoo has soccer tryouts on Thursday and Friday nights, and my house is a wreck. Then I’d probably invite you to join us because that’s how I am. I want EVERYONE to come and have a good time. I’d probably hand you a drink at the door so you wouldn’t notice the dust bunnies and clutter.
If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you that I’m really glad that both Beer Geek and I can drive manual cars. I’m working on renting a car in Ireland and the price difference between manual and automatic is astronomical. I’m sure it will take a bit to get used to driving manual in a car that’s opposite from home, but I’m totally betting on the brain’s ability to adapt quickly. (We’ve driven in both Scotland and Australia and done ok, so I think we’ll survive. Hopefully.) And let’s not even get into rental car insurance. Ireland is crazy. That is all. I’d also tell you that I’m super excited we found someone to live in our house while we are gone. I was worried that the gecko might start a fire again or that the cat would get lonely. Now I just need to teach him how to hand feed our stupid? blind? gecko (seriously, he can’t catch a cricket even when the cricket doesn’t move.)
If we were having coffee this morning I would tell you how tired I am. I’m so ready for the school year to end and the alarm clock to be put away for the summer. This year was the first time since I worked full time that I had to get up regularly around 6am. Since I seldom make it to bed before midnight, by Friday I’m dragging. The first week of vacation we are sleeping as late as we want and doing fun, no hassle activities. I think we’ll try to hit up the National Aquarium before our membership ends and also go see Maleficent one day. One day, for sure, we won’t be getting out of our pajamas.
And since you are here, maybe you are one of my winners…
Fitletic sport belt winner: Steel Springs
Bondi Band winner #1: Tanya B
Bondi Band winner #2: Erin L
But if we were having coffee this morning I would tell you that I have a better chance of qualifying for Boston than I do of getting the things in the mail next week. Still, email me at mcmmamaruns at gmail.com and I’ll get your item out as soon as I can. First person to email with their choice of which bands gets their first choice. Second person gets what is left.
And now you… How are you? Tell me what’s going on in your life. And thank you so much for listening while I blabbed on and on.
Can’t wait to hear about the blogger conference and what you wore of course! Ireland sounds amazing. Have never been-it looks gorgeous. Sometimes we are the most productive when we are slammed with everything at the same time. Enjoy your time alone. Nice meeting for coffee.
I always love vacation once we get there, but the getting ready wears me out. Same for this trip. Still don’t know what I’m packing.
I can’t imagine having to find a house sitter willing to feed a cricket to a gecko! 😉 Have a great week and if the dust bunnies are too big, just take your party outside!
I actually have several friends who are willing to feed him. Something about being a mom of boys prepares you for things like this. ;o)
We are always our own worst critic when it comes to the state of our homes!!! Mine is covered in dog toys and it drives me nuts, but apparently I’m the only one who notices it!!!
Ha! A friend picked up his son today and my front entry way was cluttered with shoes, groceries and stuff from the soccer party we’d just returned from. He was like “wow, your house looks just like ours! I’ve never seen yours like this.” LOL
Going to a blogger conference or something? Sounds like a lot of fun and I wish I could go to Florida and have a hotel room and BED all to myself for 3 days. NO SNORING? I would be in heaven.
It’s an event with Gatorade. Should be fun. Even if not, I’m staying in a nice hotel and I don’t have to cook dinner for 3 nights…
Have a great time in Florida! And wow, you are the second person I’ve read today that is going to Ireland… major major envy! 🙂
This has been long in the planning. I’m excited we are finally going this summer.
Wow, sounds like you’ve got a big week coming up! I hope you have a lot of fun at the conference. Neither Mike or I drive a manual and it was a problem in Wales. We wanted to rent a car to drive around the countryside and it was hard to find an automatic, much less for a reasonable price. We ended up doing a bus tour instead, which wasn’t quite as cool. I have to learn to drive a manual before we go to Europe again.
Totally one of those things everyone should learn, but it’s hard to find manual in the US, especially around dc.
If we were having coffee this morning I’d probably let you do most of the talking because I’m like that. I would tell you about my great 24k run yesterday and the cake I made for my sister and the worries I have about my son but that would probably be it.
One of these days we’ll get back to Australia… And then you can talk all you want because I will adore your accent.
I’m an SLP in a school and our last day was Friday. I agree with you- it’s so nice to turn that alarm clock off! I still wake up too early, but it’s nice not to rush in the morning.
You have so many fun things to share! I love live blogging events!
Florida and a blogging event? Hopefully you get some “pool time” in 🙂 LOL have fun
