This has been a crazy week. Usually the first week of school is filled with coffee with other moms and running and chores that didn’t get done over the summer and maybe a few fun things for myself. This week was not like that, so I’m going to join Jill, Nikki, and Lynda at the Ultimate Coffee Date and have coffee with YOU this morning. Sound good?
So, before I do the mind dump that is my usual, what’s up with you? Got some races coming up? Work going well? Kids doing anything exciting? Here’s what’s going on in my life…
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you work has been crazy busy lately. I’ve been working for the same company for about 3 years and I love my job (doesn’t hurt that my boss is a super close friend), but it’s ratcheted up a step in the last month or so. It used to be a steady trickle of work that gave me a few hours a week. Last week I felt like that trickle had moved up to the power of a fire hose. This is good (my kids are older, it’s time to work more), but it’s taking some adjustment. I actually fell asleep on the couch at 7:30pm last night, which is something that NEVER happens. (As a true night owl, though, I woke up at 8:30 to take out my contacts and was then up until after 11.)
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that tonight I’m hosting another beer and food pairing dinner. I spent all day Thursday slowly braising the beef that we will eat tonight. You are supposed to make it a couple of days ahead and then reheat it slowly in the oven. Since it’s supposed to be a feels like of 100* today and my oven has zero insulation, I will be attempting to reheat it all in the crockpot. Fingers crossed it turns out well. Related: instead of making a chocolate stout cake, I will be buying dessert today. I can’t imagine heating my house up like that.
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that I’m really excited about Ragnar, but the nervousness is starting to set in. I need to start packing SOON so that if I don’t have something I need, I can go out and get it. I haven’t thought much about my outfits, except I know I’ll be wearing my new favorite Happy Girl Skirt (this is an affiliate link). Jury is still out on the compression socks, but the weather looks like it might actually cool down so I can wear them. Good thing that packing 6 pairs of compression socks (each leg + recovery) does not even make a dent in the number of pairs I have.
If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that as part of my decluttering, I’m getting rid of all of the fitness stuff I’m not using. So, if you are interested in buying a Bia or a pair (or 2) of Nike Frees in size 9.5 or random other skirts and shirts, let me know. Since this is more about cleaning out than it is about making money, I’m offering some sweet deals.
And now that I’ve talked your ear off and we’ve finished our coffee, I’m off to start my busy day. First up, cleaning cages at the local cat rescue league. Last up, drinking way too much beer with friends. Yeah, my life may be crazy these days and my run seems to be missing, but it’s still a pretty darn good life. Thanks for having coffee with me this morning.
A beer and food tasting dinner? Sounds like a great time!!!
Your dinner and beer pairing sounds awesome!! What a fun thing!! Also, can’t wait to hear all about your Ragnar experience. A relay like that makes you fall in love with running all over again. It’s simply the best experience!
hehehe, I’m in the process of decluttering my life as well, so I’m selling a billion textbooks that I [hope I] don’t need anymore. Slowly but surely, I’ll get this apartment emptier-lookin’! Hooray for the cat rescue! :] I really miss the cat shelter I used to volunteer at!
I so want to do a relay one of these days! Cant wait to hear about Ragnar.
I might be interested in the nike frees! What color and how much?
I have two pairs. One in a light blue with less than 20 miles on them and one in blue and orange with zero running miles, but about 30 standing hours on them (I wore them to work the Nike Womens Marathon last year.) I was thinking $40 each, but email me at mcmmamaruns at gmail.com and I can send you pictures.
If Laura passes on the blue and orange shoes I might be interested!!!
Have fun at your beer and food pairing dinner – what a fun event!!
Your pairing dinner sounds like so much fun! Have a great night!!
Love the skirt! I got the Jette in the same print….but it’s a little short for my liking :/
Great to hear things are well working wise. I recently signed up for some freelance work myself and so far it is pretty slow. I don’t mind it, my daughter is still very little and I prefer to spend time with her anyway.
My son isn’t in school yet, but it was a busy week nonetheless! 🙂 A beer and food pairing sounds like a lot of fun! I look forward to reading about it. 🙂
How did that dinner and pairing go? that sounds like fun! Did you come up with the menu yourself or is this something you got out of a magazine? Tell me more! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Hope your dinner party was fun! I am going with the compression socks too. Also need to clean out my fitness clothes. Have a great day 🙂
I should go through all my fitness things and get rid of the stuff I don’t use! IN fact, forget going through them, I should just throw them away…they are all still in boxes and I haven’t touched them since we packed them up. Well, maybe I’ll wait til winter and see what I end up getting into. Then the rest of them can go! I have things I ran in in high school! Ridiculous!
That dinner sounds amazing! I love food & alcohol pairings (I’m more of a wine lover). Hope it was good!
ID LAMENT HAVING NO TIME FER COFFEE DATES…and other stuff about coffee dates 🙂
I wouldn’t know the first thing about pairing beer & food! Are you still trying to unload your Bia? My Garmin is fading on me and I’m looking at different GPS watches!
I am. If you want to discuss a deal, email me at mcmmamaruns at gmail.com
