Happy Saturday! Hope you have some fun plans this Labor Day weekend! We are busy busy getting ready for school (finally)! I’m joining up with my friends Deborah, Coco, and Lynda for a virtual coffee date.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I hardly ran at all last week. We had a huge return to summer weather, Beer Geek was traveling for work, and my allergies were kicking my butt. All those added up to me not only NOT running much, but also not caring that I ran much. It’s supposed to be cooler starting today, so hopefully that will help my bad attitude.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m really happy about dark beers coming back. I’m a much happier beer girl in the fall. Also? Beers that taste good with S’mores? Totally beers worth drinking.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that in one week I’ll be heading to Denver for our trip to Center of the Nation. Most of my previous Mainly Marathon friends are not running, but that’s ok – by the end of the series, everyone there will be my friend. That’s one of my favorite things from the series. Also, I plan to dress as Wonder Woman for the last day. Think I could run in this?
Kidding. I’m really thinking more like this…
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that on our way to the races, I’m stopping at Skirt Sports. I’m seriously consider not taking any skirts with me and buying six new skirts/capris to wear for the races. Is that bad? I don’t think so, but I’m not asking Beer Geek’s opinion on that.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that it occurred to me that I’m running 6 half marathons in 6 states in September, one half marathon in a different state in October (Runners World in PA), and 7 half marathons in 7 states in May. To get to the next level of Half Fanatics, you only need to run 23 states in 365 days. That’s only 9 more states (and 3 are easy – VA, MD, DC)… Create Your Own Visited States Map
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m so sad about not running Ragnar. I’ve tried to figure out how to make it work, but it’s just not happening. So, I’m thinking about volunteering. Yeah, if you can’t run, you should definitely volunteer! (Also? I can’t wait until it’s cold enough to wear that sweatshirt again.) If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’ve been filling my phone and ipad with lots of books. We will be driving a lot and my not have much wifi/cell connectivity while at CON, so I intend to be fully loaded for reading. Here are a few books that I’m going to add, along with To Kill a Mockingbird, and a few new books from some of my favorite authors.

Got any more book suggestions for me???
Finally, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the Tuesdays on the Run topic for this week is “running pet peeves”. What drives you crazy about races, other runners, drivers, cyclists, yourself, you name it, we want to hear about those little things that annoy you. And here’s our schedule for the next few weeks (yeah, one of these days I’ll get better about updating the Tuesday Link Up page… but don’t hold your breath.)
- 9/8 – runner pet peeves
- 9/15 – running/Fitness Trackers (Garmin, Fitbit, etc)
- 9/22 – I don’t run without…
So, we’ll see you there, right???
Happy Saturday! What would you share with me if we were having coffee???

I am so bummed about missing Ragnar this time too! People are dropping like flies on our team too. So jealous of your visit to SS. I am not sure that you could find 6 things to buy that you don’t have?! Thanks for linking up today!
Just conveniently forget to pack your running skirts so you HAVE to buy something. Wow you will be close to 23 states. Tempting to get to that next level, isn’t it? I need to look at what’s required for my next level. I’ve been so busy with Chicago, I haven’t even thought about it. NEXT YEAR. Happy travels and good luck in CON!!
I definitely vote for not packing any running skirts and picking up some new ones – how can you go to SS and not get a new skirt (or 5!). 🙂
Great plan on the running skirts! Sorry to hear you had to drop Ragnar too! Have fun in Denver!
So sorry you are not doing RAGNAR this year. I hope to see you along the course or at one of the exchanges.
That map is super cool! Thanks for sharing! I agree if you can’t run a race volunteering is the way to go! I like your running skirt plan, gets 2 thumbs up from me! Enjoy the weekend and a couple of beers! Cheers!
Is it bad if I actively encouraged you to buy those six new outfits from sports skirts? You wear their stuff all the time so it’s not like you’ll be breaking the ‘don’t wear new stuff’ rule in a race. And new stuff makes you feel good. I say go for it!
You’re so ambitious! I love that you’re running in so many states and back to back too! And no, it’s totally ok to not take any skirt outfits and just buy new ones. I wouldn’t tell my boyfriend how much they cost though- he might not like that all too much! 😉
I would absolutely love to do a Ragnar one day, but somehow things keep getting in the way of me doing one! This year it was the year of weddings- all my friends were getting married in the fall and I don’t have much time for travel or racing. (Why can’t people plan weddings in the summer when it’s hot and there are no races?)
I’ve been meaning to join your link up on Tuesdays. I’ve been looking for some new ones to join because my blog got deleted and I had to re-do EVERYTHING. Sigh. Technical troubles.
I totally recognize the beer flight and waffles! Hopefully this nasty weather is behind us now and you can resume training!
I know the feeling about Ragnar sadness. I have already burned so much vacation time for destination events this year that I can’t do one. But they are lots of fun. I am volunteering for a local half marathon, though, which is pretty exciting. I’ll be bike marshaling for the first time.
OOOH THIS WEEKEND IS MY SUPERHERO 5k!!
Im dressing up as wonderwoman and the dog is dressing as batman!
