When I started “streaking”, I expected at some point that my body would tell me it was time to take a break. What I didn’t expect is that I’d do something stupid (or at least klutzy) and need to take a day (or more) off. I fell last week and landed hard on my knee cap. That didn’t seem to cause any problems for running for the next few days, but now I’m struggling with what feels like a very bruised knee cap and pain that causes me to change my gait. If it hurts at all to run today, the #runstreak is over. If it still hurts on Monday, I’ll be figuring out what kind of doctor to see.
So, to take my mind off of my derailed training plan, I’m working on a different goal. I’ve been wanting to mix up our menu for a while now. We are totally in a rut and I need to try out some new things. To kick things off, I decided to pull together a Foodie collection of meals I’d like to make on the weekends, preferably with friends over. (My extroverted self believes that every weekend should involve socializing with good friends, preferably with craft beer and excellent food.) I’ve dropped in 12, oops, now I’m up to 13, meals I’d like to make soon (or made recently). Check them out! And feel free to drop some links in the comments of your favorite meals. We REALLY need some variety around here.

I know! That’s on the top of my list to try.
E Stem. I fell on ice HARD and ended up bruising my MCL one E-Stem treatment and I was back. I couldn’t even walk before! Chances are that’s a better use of valuable time and money 🙂
Hmm, may have to look into that. I had it done on my calf a while back and it helped. My knee does feel better today, so we’ll see what tomorrow brings.
So sorry to hear about your knee! I hope it heals up quickly. As for those meals, YUM! I’m coming to your place for dinner!

Seems to be improving, but I decided it’s better to let it really heal than to keep aggravating it.
Ouch! Hope your knee feels better quickly.

Yeah, it kind of sucks. But I have a kid home sick, so I wasn’t getting my long run in anyways. Sigh.
The black garlic chicken looks great for the rest of my family. Thanks for including my squiche. It’s really good hope you like it. I’d love to do one of those foodie collections but have no idea where to start. They look really great! Hope your knee is feeling better soon!

Its so important to listen to your body, which is one of the big reasons why I always hesitate to start a run streak. I fear that my “need” to run one day when I’m not feeling well will push me to do something that I know I shouldn’t.

I’m not a fan of “streaking.” Rest days are necessary and running every day is just not for everyone. My IT band was NOT happy when I tried to go from 3 runs a week to 4 in place of cross training. Pretty sure I won’t be trying a run streak!

Oh no! Glad that it wasn’t anything more serious and I hope that your knee feels better soon. I definitely need to mix up my menu plan. Thanks for these ideas.

I’m afraid to streak. I know my body too well, and while it can do some pretty insane things, I know it needs days OFF from running!

My body seems to like running lots of days. My legs are usually more problematic after a rest day, but I do need to take a break sometimes.
