Ahh, Monday, here we go again…
Last week and this weekend were crazy busy again. It’s funny how having soccer commitments four days a week makes the week busy before we add anything else. But I’m doing my best to actually capture that time to do some work or workout or even just to chill with a book I’ve been wanting to read.
Last week I met with my trainer for another workout. Each workout is about 50 minutes of hell and then 10 minutes of massage/assisted stretching. In case you are wondering, I do it for the massage. Makes the hell totally worthwhile. (What’s my definition of hell? Carrying 50 pounds of weights while walking up and down the stairs. My legs are fine with it. My shoulders, not so much.)
Friday I woke up to an absolutely amazing day. Virginia loves to throw in the occasional warm day in November. I’m down with that. I had planned to go to the gym but the weather said run. Unfortunately, my hip said “no”, so I did the next best thing: 2 hours of raking leaves. Pretty sure that counts as a workout.
What? You don’t wear a cute Skirt Sports outfit to do chores? (Note that I’m also wearing an old pair of Altra Running shoes.)
Saturday, on the other hand, dawned cold and rainy, just in time for soccer practice and a Mad Fox cask ale festival. That’s ok, we don’t let bad weather ruin our fun.
Getting an autograph from a DC beer celebrity, Bob Tupper…
What happens when you give your husband your phone…
Stay tuned: I’ll be giving away one of the awesome Skirt Sports Lotta Love shirts in a couple of weeks.
Sunday it was cool and sunny – perfect soccer weather. Which was good, because once again we had a game. Sadly this one did not go as well as most and the kids were bummed after a loss. It was our last league game of the season, but we do have a tournament coming up, so hopefully we’ll end on a better note.
And now we start a new week. Yesterday started the #HolidaySweat challenge. I had a total fail of a day. I should have done something, but just never got around to it. I know. So, I’m actually setting goals for the week.
- I plan to eat “freggies” at every meal. To that end, I’ll be hitting the grocery store soon and stocking up on my favorites.
- I’m planning my workouts for the week:
- Monday – Elliptical and hour with my trainer
- Tuesday – Run to and from coffee with a friend (4 miles)
- Wednesday – Gym and raking
- Thursday – Gym or running + weights
- Friday – I’m going on a field trip to Jamestown, so hopefully I can get in a bunch of walking.
- Saturday – Quick run before Shoo’s tournament
- Sunday – Walking in between games, weight workout in the evening after the tournament is over
- Get to bed at a reasonable hour every night. (This post is actually “late” because I opted to go to bed instead of write last night.)
What are your plans for the week? Do you set up a workout schedule each week?
I set a running schedule. I always plan to add the gym…but sadly I never do.
I’ve had to add the gym – my body is rebelling at all the running and I need to build some muscle.
I don’t meal plan. I don’t set a workout schedule. Those two kind of seem to work for me? I do fit in fitness each day. We do end up doing just fine in the mail room. I know I have it easy because typically it’s just the nine-year-old and me.
BUT in so many other ways my life is running me. And I need to take back the reigns.
I have to plan meals because I’m out of the house several nights a week – if I don’t plan them, my husband and older son don’t eat healthy. If I have stuff ready that they can heat up, it’s much better.
Sounds like you have a good week of workouts ahead. I’m planning some runs and CrossFit classes 🙂
Sounds like a good combo.
Yes! I need to set up a schedule for my workouts this week. That might hep with keeping the workouts day to day! 🙂
I find that planning my workouts around my commitments helps a lot in getting them in. If I don’t plan them in my day, I often get to the end of the day with nothing done and then I’m too tired.
I have my normal workout schedule, but I’m not that busy outside of work. I can get my workouts done and have the rest of the day to relax or socialize.
Some days it feels like my 30-60 minutes of working out is my only down time.
What a great compromise to not being able to run… a fun AND productive way to spend your afternoon outdoors in the sun… I actually don’t mind raking.
Hope you have a wonderful week…
I like it. I also like shoveling snow. I’m a big fan of productive workouts.
You’re so cute in your skirt raking leaves. I’d be two layers of sweats and a janky hoodie. Haha. Actually, scratch that…I’d make my husband do it. Right now I do not plan workouts. I start the day and see what body and baby feels like. Maybe a short run or long walk? Maybe some living room yoga? Who knows. Those are like the only three things I really do though right now.
It was so warm that day and I’ve put all of my shorts away… Plus I was actually dressed to go to the gym or run and then decided to rake.
We have had some amazing weather lately. I have the lotta love top too it’s so cute in person. looking forward to wearing it more as it cools down. Glad you hear you are enjoying your strength training sessions 🙂
I wish I could afford her all the time as she pushes me way more than I push myself. Oh well, guess I’ll just have to push myself more.
No, I don’t wear a cute skirt to do chores. I wear pyjamas. But then I don’t have a cute skirt like that.
I wear skirts for pretty much everything LOL. And I have way too many…
I usually have a loose workout plan in mind, but nothing set in stone.
Lucky me, my husband is blowing the leaves. I offered to help, he declined (although he was a tad surly about it). I just had raking & bagging leaves; always have.
For years I did the vast majority of it, since I don’t work, and then last year I was injured & couldn’t & what took me weeks took him like 1 week with the leaf blower.
I actually like raking and hate the leaf blower, so I don’t mind doing a bunch of it. We’ll both be working on it this week because it takes two people to get the leaves out of the backyard.
Kudos to you on your workouts. There is NO way I could carry 50 lbs up steps. I can barely carry a bag of dog food..lol
It was really challenging. I need to do it more often LOL.
Sounds like you have a great workout plan for the week. Hope all goes according to your plan and that you’re able to get all those workouts in!
I’m sure something will come up, but I can usually move things if need be.
I can’t wait until my knee heals so I can run again. Heck, I’ll be happy to walk! And I always make a weekly plan, even when I am not specifically training for anything. Makes it easier to stick to it.
Yeah, my hip is limiting my running. I’m not happy about it. Hope you heal soon!
I would totally count the leaf raking as exercise!!!
It certainly felt like a workout LOL.
I did not rake any leaves but I’ve got some freggies roasting in the oven right now. #goodgirl
Freggies for the win!
The warm weather last week was crazy wasn’t it? I’m kind of winging the workouts these days. Getting it done but with no real plan and I kind of like it that way at the moment!
I only plan each week so that I actually fit it in. If I don’t plan, life gets in the way, especially when I’m running minimal miles.
LOL I get the same pictures when my boyfriend has the phone! I have a training plan for my runs and group classes at work twice a week, but other than that it’s tougher for me to schedule my other workouts that I need to do. I’ve heard of Sly Fox but not Mad Fox beer!
Mad Fox is a local brewpub – they don’t bottle or can their beers.
I am doing the challenge too. I hope to get in 20 minutes of “my own” exercise on the days that I also teach. And no sugar for 5 days!
I’m trying to do the no sugar thing right now – being moderately successful.
I dont meal plan but should. Right now, I am not training for anything, so my schedule has been all over the place/kind of non existent. Really need to get back on track!
I only meal plan because I’m gone two evenings a week for soccer, so need food that the people left at home can fix easily.
Leaf raking definitely counts as a workout! Killer arms! haha
Yes, my arms were super tired. Next time I need to wear gloves though – major blisters.
Looks like a great week of goals! Raking leaves in shorts is the only way to go 🙂
The going to bed at a decent hour is one I would truly benefit from. I also love the one run to and from coffee with a friend! 🙂
Yes! Every week without fail I have a menu and a workout schedule. I can’t imagine starting the week without either.
Taking definitely counts as a workout, I am so happy I have no more of that in Florida. Looks like you have a great week all planned out, someday i will plan
what’s going on with your hip?? that picture your husband took is hilarious!
