it’s nice to meet you.
I woke up at 2:45 this morning and could not fall back to sleep. I hate to admit it, but I think beer is starting to affect me the same way wine does. I only had two beers, but it was enough to disrupt my sleep. I stayed in bed until Beer Geek got up at 5. At that point, I figured I’d try and get out for a run by 6 am to avoid the heat of the day. (I’m kind of over the 90+ degree runs at noon.)
I haven’t run early in a while, so it took my body a while to get with the program and I didn’t get outside until closer to 7. I had 6.8 miles on the schedule in order to hit 30 for the week. I planned to just take it easy and went out at about a 10:30 minute pace. At mile 5, I dropped down to a slightly faster than 10 minute pace, figuring I had less than 2 miles to go. I ended up getting into a groove and finished 10 miles in 1:40:19, which is an average pace of 10:02. Woot!
While I was running, I decided that it was get time to get back on a plan. Running planless is not working for me. I’ve decided to train as if I’m going to race the Wilson Bridge Half on September 19th. Instead of racing it, I’ll be pacing C. Mom (if she wants me). Now I just need to tweak a plan to make it what I want.
I’m a girl with a goal and that makes me happy. ;o)
yay for training plans!I can't wait to be back on one myself. Only one week to go!
It does make a difference to have something on the calendar, I agree. I wish you were doing Parks so that we could meet up–I went with that one b/c it fits my schedule better.
Yesterday during my down time I came up with a plan for the rest of my 10 weeks before the marathon. I feel good about it. Its aggressive on the long run but also emphasizes aspects that are hard for me like rest and fuel. Not good at those at all!!Love goals and direction 🙂
Goals are great! Good luck developping your plan!
I do love me a training plan! If you need help tweaking it, let me know. When is your coaching course?
Good to be back on that horse 🙂 Good Luck!
I love a training plan – except when you can't follow it because of injuries! 🙁 Good job avoiding the heat.

I dont have a training plan and I think it hurts me in the summer months. I need to get better at that too. Anyone want to lend me their training plans? Half marathon & full? mcm- how did you get that fun US map that you color in for start u have run? I want to do that too!! I have done 4 so far this year, with 2 more scheduled.
Structure isn't a bad thing :). Hope the new plan works out perfectly!!
Nice job heading out for 6.8 and ending up with a 10 miler!
Good luck with your training plan… too bad about the beer and sleeping… I've been having trouble sleeping after drinking beer or wine for awhile now. It stinks!
I definitely feel better about the world when I'm "on plan." Awesome job on your run!!
Woo hoo, you have a half marathon on your schedule and a training plan too:) Goals are great…they keep us focused and accountable! Good luck!
yea for a training plan!
I always feel better with a plan. It gives me more focus,
That's not good news about beer causing a bad sleep! I hope it doesn't become a real problem… or you may need to start drinking in the morning!Great job on the run!
Nice run! I always like to have somthing on the schedule to keep me motivated.
Good for you!I have found doing my beer drinking in the afternoon affects the sleep less than evening drinking. And I typically don't drink during the week.
Glad to hear you have a plan, Stan! Beer puts me to sleep….
A girl with a goal is awesome, gotta get myself there too! I have a half in October..it's going to be here sooner than I think!!
IF she wants you? Surely you jest. Of course i do!!!
