What I’m loving right now…

November 7, 2012 by MCM Mama 8 Comments

Ok, first and foremost the fact that the election is over.  For the first time in MONTHS, my phone isn’t ringing constantly.  The silence is beautiful.  (Seriously, living in a swing state and having both parties think you might vote for them = near constant calls.  Some small part of me wanted to vote for the party that called me fewer times.  )

No, what I’m really loving these days is the “halfzip”.

This might possibly be the best invention EVER!  From late October until sometime in April, 90% of my runs will involve one of my halfzip tops.  I am not a runner who feels the need to wear shorts and short sleeves once the temps drop.  I just don’t get that hot when I’m running (especially right now when most of my miles are run at an easy pace.)  Also, living in the land of tall buildings, there are a lot of wind tunnels.  I might be warm one minute and then turn a corner and be freezing.  Also, I’ll be in the sun and warm and then bam! I’m in the shade of a building and shivering.  My solution?  That little zipper at the neck.

I start my runs zipped all the way up and then spend the rest of my run adjusting the zipper to keep cool or warm back up.

Do I have a favorite brand?  I own halfzips from Nike, Champion, Adidas, Thrive, and Brooks.  My two favorites for when I’m not wearing a shirt under them are the Thrive and the Nike.  The material is super soft and comfy.  The others are good too, just not as soft.

And you know what makes a couple of the brands even better?

A thumbhole! Warm hands in addition to a zipper? Yes, please! My Thrive and Brooks both have them.

Do you love this style of running shirt? Is there a brand out there that I should try? ‘Cause you know, 5 is not nearly enough. ;o)

I am with you on the phone peace! And what’s crazy is that Maryland doesn’t get much more blue, so why they wasted all that money/time phoning us is beyond me.

I love, love, love thumbholes and half zips. Perfect combo. I have a really nice one from Athleta that I got last year that I pull out over and over.

I am also thankful the election is over. I can’t vote in the election, but I still get all the commercials for Washington State. (They did have some interesting things on their ballot though…)

I generally go with a full jacket for winter running because it gets COLD here, but I have never not loved any running gear I’ve got from Lululemon. Not sure if they make a half zip, but I bet if they do, it’s great!

I am a total sucker for anything with a thumbhole. My favorite. 🙂 And hoodies. Hoodies and thumbholes. Clearly I am a fashionista. 🙂

Love the half zip too! I have a great one from Lululemon that I absolutely love. (And yes, thumbholes are a given!)

No home phone means no annoying political calls. 😛

I would love to say that I have a favorite brand but I actually own only one running shirt. I just found out the ither day why I’m not supposed to wear cotton tee’s. I’m starting to think my new found hobby isn’t as cheap as I thought. 🙂

    Your half zips are cute!

It’s a lot warmer here in winter than over there but I still love my thumbhole when it gets nippy.

Love that blue one. I am a half zip nut. I can’t tell you how many I have. It would be embarrassing. Nike is probably my favorite. Champion at Target isn’t my favorite but they have some good ones at a better price.
