Today was my free day. After I dropped Shoo off at preschool, I planned to run some errands, go to the eye dr.’s and then catch up on a backlog of stuff from my various volunteer positions. I managed to buy a couple of pairs of shorts and then went to my appointment. I hadn’t been in a while, so I completely forgot how absolutely annoying it is to have dilated eyes. I could barely buy the few things I needed from the grocery store (couldn’t see the credit card slip AT ALL) and there was no way I could read ANYTHING on the computer. I tried cleaning up the playroom and doing a seasonal switch of clothes for Shoo, but I just found it extremely annoying to not be able to see anything closer than an arms length away clearly.
When all else fails, run!
Finally, I figured out I had two options: watch tv or run. I decided to run. I put on a baseball cap and a pair of Jones’ sunglasses to block as much light as possible and headed out. I planned a slow and easy three miler, as my legs are still a bit sore. Well, it was definitely slow, but not at all easy. I’m glad I did it as a recovery run, but I felt a bit like I was running with stronger gravity than usual. I guess there really is a difference between a 13 mile long slow run and a 13 mile race!

That’s some dedication to running! Pretty sure I would have made a tent out of blankets and pillows and hid from the light for the rest of the day.
yay for going out for a run! hope the eyes are back to normal, and legs feel better soon! 🙂
You brave soul – running with dilated eyes? I’d end up in a ditch, or run into a street sign….you go girl! 🙂
I’d have ended up running into something with dilated eyes 🙂
You ran?!? My eyes tear up horribly and I always have to call Mr McG to come get me after the eye dr *sigh*
When all else fails, run! Wait a minute, Wait a minute, Wait a minute!!1!In this scenario, beer has failed, too?!1?I DON’T WANT TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD!1!Plus … Marcy tears up just because she has to leave her eye doctor? I think someone’s in lurrrrrrve …
I’d have curled up on the couch and made the husband bring me snacks after a day like that. :o)
You are not kidding about the difference between a long easy run and a long race. I was shocked at how long it took me to recover from the last half. I hate dilated eyes too–what a pain!
