Call your mommy.
Yesterday, Beer Geek informed that his annual fall conference would start (you guessed it) the day of the MCM. Yeah, just what I wanted to hear. He normally leaves around 2 pm to get to it, but I’m not even sure I’ll be done running by then. Thankfully, he is willing to go a bit later than normal. Also, I called my mom (who was coming for the weekend, but also leaving a few hours after the run) and whined and we were able to change her plane ticket, so she’s staying until Tuesday now. Thank God for mommy!
To add to the fun in our household, Jones woke up last night, screaming from a sore throat. A trip to the doctor confirmed that he has strep for the second time in three weeks. Now we are trying to figure out if it’s a new case or if we didn’t completely knock out the first one. Our doctor thinks he likely caught it again because he was feeling just fine for over a week. Thankfully, so far Shoo does not seem to be as susceptible as Jones, but Jones didn’t get his first case until he was four, so who knows. Jones was up most of the night and when he wasn’t, Shoo was, so it was not a good night for me. I’m quite the tired girl today.
On the “lemonade” side, I did manage a treadmill run while Jones watched a video and Shoo was at preschool. I did 5 miles in 47:30, which was nice considering I wasn’t really pushing myself that much. I’m actually sore today because yesterday Shoo and I went to our “mommy and me” exercise class. Despite doing sit-ups on a regular basis and that darned pushup challenge, I have sore abs and arms from the class. I wish the class was offered every week, instead of only for 6-8 weeks at a time. I was supposed to run 5 miles yesterday, today and tomorrow, but I counted yesterday’s class as three. I did the five today (I would have done 8 if I’d been able to go outside, but whatever). Tomorrow I’ll do 3-5 depending on Jones’ health and whether or not I end up taking him to soccer. Friday is my last 20 mile run and then it’s taper city. I’m probably the only runner who can’t wait to taper LOL.
