White House Easter Egg Roll

April 2, 2013 by MCM Mama 9 Comments

Sometimes I get really lucky and get some pretty cool stuff as a result of social media.  Once, my kids got to be in a filming for a commercial for Wild Kratts, thanks to someone at PBS reading my blog.

Yesterday?  We got to go to the White House Easter Egg Roll thanks to a local representative of Honest Tea.  Tickets to the event are free, but it’s a lottery to get them and you are assigned a specific time to be there.  We’ve never had the opportunity to attend.  So, when the Honest Tea rep reached out to me with not only tickets to the event, but ones where you could go at any time, I was ALL.OVER.IT!

It was AWESOME!

The boys did the Egg Roll and the Egg Hunt and we wandered around the huge event.  It was a gorgeous day and we enjoyed the fact that we were able to be there for the end of one time period and the beginning of another.  This allowed us to look around when the crowds were on the smaller side.  Win!

And guess who I ran into while we were waiting in line?  One of my favorite RBF’s!  In all those people, what a bizarre coincidence that we ended up right next to T from Racing with Babes and her family!

All in all, it was a really fun experience and I’m so glad we got to do it.  This was probably one of the last years that my boys would enjoy it.  (It’s really targeted at younger kids.)  HUGE thank yous to Honest Tea for providing the tickets!!!

On the fitness front, I really wish someone would return my legs from the Dust Bowl.  I seriously feel like I’m running on wooden legs, rather than anything with actual muscle.  Bleh.  I also started the Best Body Boot Camp yesterday.  Wow!  I could barely finish the weight workout, even with modifications, and lifting my arms is a bit challenging today.  And because I like a challenge, I also started a sugar detox with Mommy Run Fast.  I succeeded yesterday, despite the plethora of candy in my house.  I’m feeling really tired and crabby today, so today will be a challenge!

So far, one day in, April has continued the “Epic”ness of 2013.

How’s your April going so far?

Disclaimer: Honest Tea gave me the passes.  All opinions of their product and of the Egg Roll are my own.

How very cool! Great experience for you all.

I am not surprised your legs are tired…recovery will take a while, I’d guess!

What a neat experience! I was wondering if you’d run into T.

I confess, when you both posted on FB about the event, I wondered if it was an April Fool’s joke. Both of your families are very lucky!

SO awesome the things you get to do with your family!

April has been good, only a few days in and my Nephew was finally born, so I can’t say anything bad about this month so far!
