“They” say that timing is everything. I was recently given the opportunity to receive some food from Schwan’s for review. I jumped at the chance and they asked me to tell them what I’d like to try.
You know how you should never go to the grocery store hungry? Well, you should also never peruse a food delivery site while hungry (and a little bit stressed.) If you do, you might just bypass the really awesome looking healthy things like salmon and wild rice pilaf that are on their new LiveSmart menu and head straight for the comfort foods.
In fact, I sent them a long list of yummy foods and told them to surprise me. They did not disappoint me.
Can you say “comfort foods”? I knew you could.
And it was soooo good.
After five days of having my kids home with me (thanks to the faux snow day, teacher conferences, and a weekend) + the time change, the last thing I really wanted to do on Sunday night was cook dinner. So, I yanked the chicken, pierogies, and veggies out of the freezer. I cooked the chicken in the toaster oven (I almost never use my 1962 oven), tossed the pierogies in a cast iron pan on the stove, and heated the veggies in the microwave. Bam! Dinner with no work at all.
I’ll be honest and tell you this is not a typical meal around here. I don’t eat white pasta very often. And pasta stuffed with cheese and potatoes? Once in a blue moon. But it was good. Really, really good. Shoo stole about a third of my chicken and Jones liked the pierogies. Even better, there’s plenty left to make at least one more meal for Beer Geek and I.
And I may have had leftovers for breakfast the next day:
And for lunch:
I was very pleased with the quality and flavor of the items we tried. The prices are also pretty reasonable and who doesn’t like having food delivered to their door? Since I don’t have much freezer space, I likely won’t order often, but it’s definitely on my radar for keeping an easy meal or two in my freezer. And the apple pie? It’s waiting for a night when we have company. That’s the only way I won’t eat the whole thing myself…
Want to try it out? They’ve offered a code for $5.00 of $25.00 or $10.00 off $50.00. Enter Code: KIMH2 when you order.
Thanks, Jenn, for hosting WIAW!

LOVE YOUR HONESTY too.
I could see stocking these for when my extended fam visits.
Those look yummy and easy. I carry such a crazy schedule this would be perfect and easy for me. I might have to do some more digging into this!
I think it’s safe to say that the majority of us indulge every now and again and if your going to it, Schwan’s sounds like the way to go! The products sound delicious and really easy to prepare.
No effort meals are my absolute favourites. I’m a big fan of bottled sauces – but I check the ingredients to make sure it’s not suicide in a bottle. If a meal can be assembled in less than 30 minutes I’m happy. But I’m happier if someone else does the whole thing.
