The plan today was a 5 miler at a steady 9 minute pace. I decided to leave my neighborhood and run and out and back. Mile 1 was perfect at exactly 9:00. (Gotta love garmin). Mile 2 had a lot of uphills, but I managed 9:04. Mile 3 I screwed up. I ran it in 8:40. Which, of course, meant that not only did mile 4 go slower (9:17), but that I was D.O.N.E. Done. It was hot and humid and the route I chose didn’t have a lot of shade.

Sounds like it was a nice sunny day for you at least 🙂 Well done on the run, and hope the strap invention hasn't been tested out too much! 😀 sigh… boys lol.
rut roh about the armoire and straps needed!
I have issues taking it easy and wanting to push when it's feeling good too. But good for you getting out there and getting it done!
Get the straps! My little monkey pulled a dresser over on himself while visiting Grandma and Grandpa. Fortunately, there was a big play castle to take the brunt of the dresser's force.I'm glad the day was nice for your run!
Running in the heat! Ugh! I'm still not used to it.I gotta run a 4-mil race on Saturday (my first) so I gotta get out there and see what i can do today. At least the race is at 9:30 a.m.
I have to learn that lesson the hard way over and over and over again. You still had a good run, though!
Depending on the humidity, especially, you sometimes have to slow down pace expectations in the summer.
The heat KILLS me, so I totally sympathize. Even once I've acclimatized, I can't help but think other runners' bodies handle it better than mine. Time to give yourself a pat on the back for even getting through it!
I need to take what you say about banking time and make it my mantra. Geez. Well, yesterday was a tough day anyway. The weather seemed deceptively nice to me– until I started running.
The heat and humidity can really suck the life out of you . . . good job on the run!
I struggle when I have the time and motivation to go go go. Taking it easy is just hard some times.
I have real trouble reigning myself in.. I like to push myself too much, and then I pay for it. Usually, I pay double or triple, too. lol
OH MAN! We have a few shelves that aren't strapped to the wall, & I've screamed bloody murder at the kids when they put even one foot on a shelf. You'd think I'd have spared myself the heart attack & my kids their hearing by just strapping those suckers down :)The humidity sucked the life out of my run this morning. It was pretty ugly.
I have that problem as well, it is hard not to try to beat my previous time.
