Ok, really, I run for sanity, but I’m willing to say I’m running for any or all of the above.
Marlene showed us her bling back while I was in Alaska, so I was unable to participate. Since I know you have all been hoping and praying that I too would share, I’m going to make your dreams come true. (Forgive me, I stayed up way too late last night and I haven’t had much coffee, so I’m feeling a little… obnoxious this morning.)
As you can see, my medals hang with my jewelry. I’ve asked my dad to use his skillz to make me a medal hanger, but he’s also building new shutters for my house, so that may have to wait. The medals are right near the AC vent, so I can sometimes hear them clanging at night.
From left to right: Marine Corps Marathon, Bob Potts Marathon, Caesar Rodney Half Marathon, Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon, Pacers Running Festival Half Marathon, Oak Barrel Half Marathon, and Pacers Running Festival Quarter Marathon. I can’t find the necklace I got from my first half marathon: Zooma Annapolis Half Marathon. I have to admit that my absolute favorite is the Oak Barrel one because it smells like Jack Daniels. ;o)
Both the Marine Corps and the Army give you Finisher’s Coins instead of or in addition to the medals. They just hang out in my jewelry box. The Army 10 miler one from 2007 means the most to me. It was my first “long” race and, after I finished, I came home and 25 kids came over for Jones’ 6th birthday. By the end of the day, I could hardly walk. Now, I can run 10 miles and still have fresh legs. It always reminds me of how far I’ve come.
Have you shown us your bling? Please share!
I showed mine awhile ago! One of my favorite posts! I have a 5K medal that reminds me of how far I have come. It was such a big deal to me when I got that!
I don't have any medals yet….but I'm workin' on it!!
You have some nice bling there. I like the idea of being able to hear them chime every once and a while.
The Oak Barrel one is so cool!
Love all the bling! It looks like a nice selection. The Oak Barrel medal is original. I only have two, so not much to share. I guess I need to enter more races that have bling.
Nice collection! They all look great, and the oak barrel one is pretty unique- especially if scented! Love the globe and anchor one- I'm a former USMC Brat, so it makes me think of my dad.I'll try to share mine sometime soon.
Nice bling!!
Sing: "She works hard for her blinnnng. She works hard for her blinnnng. She works hard for her bliiiing, so you better treat her right."
I would… except this post will have to wait until CHRISTMAS! Because I hang all my medals on my tree, they're packed away. Why not, right? It's not like I'm going to wear them around the house or anything, I figure it's a good place to put them, and then we can relive our accomplishments every year.
Love the MCM medal!I have an ATM coin too (2008) and I don't know why, but I really wish it were a medal!
Nice bling 🙂
Hi MCM Mama! I just found you via TMB@Racing with Babes and see that you are a woman after my own heart. Running + beer = happy mama! If you're ever in Seattle, you are welcome to visit me for a run & post-run beer from our kegerator. Always fresh! (Usually, it's Manny's Ale on tap, a local Georgetown Brew Company.)
Very cool bling! I've been meaning to share my medals…hopefully this week!
I love the posts that are showing the bling:) You have a nice collection of medals there! Just think, it is only going to get bigger…one more with every state:)
Thanks for playing along! Can your Dad make me a medal hanger too, after he finishes your shutters? 😉
