Wright Running socks review + 1000 mile giveaway

September 20, 2010 by MCM Mama 100 Comments

I have run two marathons, 5 half marathons, and numerous 15+ mile runs in the same pair of Wright Running socks.  I love them!  They are a two layer sock, made of a really light weight polyester and nylon mix.  I wear the quarter height because they prevent rubbing from the top of the shoe heel and the tongue.  I’ve worn them in all sorts of running conditions and never gotten a blister.   They are the one pair of socks I own that work in both brands of running shoes I wear.

When I contacted the company and told them how awesome their socks are, they offered me a pair to give to a lucky reader of my blog.  I’ve decided to give them away as part of my “1000 miles for 2010” giveaway, along with one tube of nuun and the glass I “earned” on Friday night to three different winners.

To enter,  leave me a comment telling me which item you would prefer to win.

For extra entries(leave a comment for each):

  1. Become a follower or remind me you are already a follower
  2. “Like” MCM Mama on Facebook
  3. Tweet about it (be sure to include @MCM Mama in your tweet, so I see it.)
  4. Link the giveaway on your blog.
  5. Tell me about your favorite running sock (I love these, but I like variety, so I’m always willing to try out something new.)

Giveaway ends Friday, September 24th at midnight.  Three winners announced on Saturday.

Disclaimer:  I received the socks I’m giving away free from the company, but my opinions are my own.  The nuun was purchased and the glass I received for drinking beer. ;o)

I have been wearing Wright socks for a couple of years now and I tried every sock imaginable due to the humoungous blister I would get in my right arch. DISGUSTING. I wear the XLT…and I rarely run with any other sock, unless its a treadmill run or a short 3 miler then i just grab whatever.WRIGHT SOCKS RULE!!!!!!!!!

I love Wright Socks too! I have a few pairs of them and often wear them for my long runs. I've also found SmartWool Running socks are a good alternative for the days my Wright Socks are in the wash. Wool and running sounds funny, but even in the heat of summer, I find that these keep my feet blister free and dry!

The only real running sock I've ever tried is the Under Armour heat trainer. I like them okay. They have never given me a blister themselves, but they are the low cut style, and they have slid down a little bit so that my shoe has rubbed a hot spot on the back of my ankle. Might be better with something other than Mizunos.

I love Injinji toe socks. The reason I'm not wearing them right now is that I needed the double layers to help heal some blisters. I'm pretty sure the only reason I got blisters wearing the Injinjis was because all my pairs were between 3-5 years old and worn out. Up until my 26km run I had never gotten a blister from them.

if I were to win I would prefer the nuun (1st choice) or socks (2nd choice). not a beer drinker (or any alcohol anymore for that matter) so the glass would need to go to someone else. 🙂

I am currently wearing microfiber socks that I love but that do not wear well. I have already had to stitch up the toe of one of the three pairs I own. I must be hard on socks as my SmartWool socks have also been stitched up.Guess I would prefer the socks but would be excited over any of the items.
