G tagged me to give you guys 21 random things about me. I’ve done a lot of “random” posts, so this was kind of hard LOL. I tried to come up with some new things this go round.
- I will eat just about anything for breakfast: pizza, sweet potatoes, stuffing, whatever. I’ll also eat breakfast for dinner.
- Despite several attempts at upgrading, we always end up drinking out of pint glasses with beer logos. Even when we serve a meal on the good china.
- I used to watch a lot of the food channel and thought that “smellavision” would be awesome. Now that I have two boys who love all things fart and gross, I see why no one has ever pursued that idea.
- If I could change one thing in my life, it would be to live closer to my parents. I hate that I can’t just toss the kids in the car and go home for a long weekend. Barring that, I’d really just like a master bathroom.
- I will eat almost any vegetable, prepared almost any way. The one glaring exception to that is beets. I’ve never met a beet that I liked.
- When we got married, Beer Geek wanted an Elvis wedding. Unfortunately, the only Elvis in Nebraska was busy that weekend. Instead, for our 11th anniversary, we had an Elvis renewal of the vows in Las Vegas.
- The company I work for does not have a physical office. We all work from home or the park or the library. Thankfully we do our calls as calls not video because 9 times out of 10, I’m sitting in sweaty running clothes.
- I’m a definite night owl. I have a hard time getting to bed before midnight. Yet, my favorite time to get things done is the hour in the morning between when I get up and when the kids get up. Needless to say, I’m often tired.
- I buy holiday beers like some women buy shoes. I’m already up to 12 different ones for this year and I’m nowhere near done. We didn’t finish last years holiday beers until October of this year LOL.
- I’m not a girly girl and never have been. I own very little in the way of pink and I don’t think I have anything in the house with lace. But offer me a pair of shoes with seriously high heels and I’m all over them.
- I have zero self control when it comes to marshmallows. If there’s a bag in the house, I’m going to eat them all.
- When Beer Geek and I got engaged, he was about to buy a new car. I insisted that he buy the four door version of the Jeep Cherokee because someday I’d be getting kids in and out of the back. He did, but he was convinced we’d have a new car before kids. 17 years later, he’s still driving that Jeep.
- When I was pregnant with Jones, I craved soup at every meal. Every.single.meal. Until the day my soup at a Mexican restaurant included a chunk of fish with the skin on it. I didn’t eat soup again for almost a year.
- I don’t watch tv and I can’t remember the last time I saw a movie in the theater that wasn’t a kids’ movie. I don’t have anything against tv, I can just always find something else I’d rather do.
- When Beer Geek and I first bought our house, he traveled a lot for work. I used to go to bed with my car keys and my cell phone next to the bed. If someone broke in, my plan was to go out the bedroom window. Some of this was paranoia, some was the reality of living in an urban area.
- I come from a pretty tall family. I have male several male cousins who are 6’5-6’7. Many of my female cousins are nearly 6′. Me? I’m 5’3″. I’ve spent my whole life looking up.
- Before kids, I used to manage a large budget for a federal library. I was very career oriented and planned to eventually be the director of the library at the Department of Justice or another large agency. Jones had other ideas. Surprisingly, I have zero interest in ever going back to that.
- I love coffee. I’ll drink it hot. I’ll drink it cold. I’ll drink it iced. But lukewarm coffee makes me gag, so I end up microwaving my coffee multiple times every morning.
- I hate being hot. I hate it so much that I end up fighting depression most of the summer. I’d much rather run in freezing cold snow than hot weather.
- I’m an Air Force brat. Before Beer Geek and I bought this house, I’d never lived in any structure longer than three years. Because of this, I get antsy about every three years and find something “big” to do (have kids, run a marathon, etc.) I can tell I’m approaching that point again. Wonder what crazy thing I’ll do this time.
- Before we had kids, I wanted to have two kids, four years apart. By the time Jones came along, I’d decided I wanted to have the second as close as possible. Apparently as close as possible was 4 years and 21 days.
I’m not going to tag anyone ’cause I’m pretty sure I’m one of the last ones to do this. However, if you want to do it and want me to link to you, feel free to leave me a comment. I’d love to stop by some new blogs!

I am exactly the same with breakfast and marshmallows. I STILL think smellevision would be amazing, but then, I don't have young boys in my house.
great list! i am with you on the lukewarm coffee. yuck. i wind up heating mine in the microwave a bunch too – the mornings are so crazy during the week especially that it takes me a while to get through my one cup – so it has to be warmed several times.
I sleep with my cell phone by the bed – the car keys sound like a good idea, too! I might have to try that when the husband goes out of town!
I used to be big into Holiday Beers, but limit my selection because many of them are disappointing.
I love reading people's random things. I thought I would have four kids as close together as I could, then i had two kids 16 months apart and KNEW I was done!
I too wish I lived closer to parents. People, with kids, who are close to their parents have no idea how sweet they have it!
i'm with you on the master bathroom. sheesh!
There's absolutely nothing wrong with eating breakfast for dinner – is there?
So funny you can eat anything upon waking..I love breakfast foods. Probably my favorite meal of the day! And love how your kid spacing turned out–it was clearly destined to be. Yahoo for working from home!
I love hot coffee but hate it luke warm. I always put a little in my cup when I am buying it and test it first. If it's luke warm I go to another kind. I don't really like cold coffee unless it is tarted up with lots of sugar and cream.
I am sooo with you on HOT vs COLD. I complain a lot in the winter, but it is nowhere near as uncomfortable as the summer heat & humidity. Blech!
Beets are one of my favorite vegetables! Super healthy too. I didn't pick you out as a lover of high heels! I hate them!
