I’m an ambassador for 261 Fearless. Each month we are given a topic to write about and this month the topic is inspiring women.

There are plenty of famous women I could list, from athletes to leaders in education to government leaders, but I’d rather give some love to some of the awesome women in my life. It was hard to narrow down my list, but here are five women who inspire me to keep moving on a daily basis.
- My mom – My mom isn’t a runner, but she can walk faster than some women can run. She’s also my rock. She’s always there when one of us needs her, no matter how often we seem to be begging for help. She’s also an amazing cook and gardner and helped foster my love for all things vegetable.

- My friend Deb – I’ve mentioned Deb before. She’s the one who gave me the brilliant idea to run two marathons in one weekend. She has shown me that it’s not about speed – it’s about showing up and finishing and surviving to run another day.

- My friend Chavet – Chavet recently won (did you hear me? WON!) a 100 mile race. Not only was she the winner (not just first woman), but she set a course record. I’ve run with her at a few Mainly Marathons races and I’ve loved watching her become stronger and stronger. She’s totally shown me that persistance pays off.

- My friend Caroline – If I had a wife, it would be Caroline. She is my go to when I need help with just about anything (including sending her about 75 texts the night before the White House visit to figure out clothes and jewelry). She’s also a phenomenal runner (I think she’s run Boston 17 times) and the one who convinced me to run my very first race. That’s right, if not for her, this blog would not even exist.

- My friend Hannah – Hannah is one of my closest MRTT friends. Life has thrown a lot of challenges her way in the form of running injuries and personal challenges. But, she keeps picking herself up and pushing forward. She rocked MCM last year and I have faith that she will run it again. Her tenacity blows me away every.single.day.

This list only just scratches the surface of amazing women in my life. Not all of my “village” is active, but many of them are in one way or another. The one thing that they all have in common is that they take everything in stride and keep moving forward with grace and good humor. I’m proud to call them all my friends and family.
I’m linking up with the DC Trifecta: Mar, Cynthia, and Courtney. They, too, are inspirational women who I’m happy to call friends.
Wow! Running a 100 mile race is a challenge in itself, let alone winning it. She is awesome!
oh I love this!! Happy to call you friend too 🙂
What a great tribe you have! I love that your mom made the list. 😉
Sounds like an awesome group of ladies! What great inspirations!
This is a great list. I’m also a 261 Fearless ambassador and I still have not written my list. It is very hard to nail down just a few runners/friends/family so I hope to finish this over the weekend. It’s interesting that I could say the same thing about my mother and walking faster than runners about 15 years ago and all the way back to childhood. She never ran, but walked every day about 10-12 miles and always did that when we were at school or working (summer jobs)
I love this! You do have some great women in your life! My mom is one of mine too. And you know I love that photo 🙂
What a nice tribute to such strong women! We all need a “wife”–LOL! Do any of them share your love for craft beer?
Awww, I love this post! GIRL AND LADY POWER
Looks like you have some great women in your life. I love that your mom walks fast. I recently met some women who do “race walking” and one of them has a marathon PR of 5:15 which I think is awesome for walking! Tell your mom she should train to walk a marathon!!!
A beautiful tribute to the amazing women in your life!
I love this post!! It’s so important to have a strong network and it looks like you do!!
love this. i’m also blessed with many amazing women and don’t know what i would do without them! have a good weekend!
Perfect! I love your mom! I am in awe of people that can walk as fast as I can run. I always say my hilly race times would be so much better if I just learned how to speed walk!
It’s important to surround yourself with inspiration, strong women. I’m glad you have so many in your life!
I don’t know if I would personally call the person responsible for my running two marathons back to back a friend, but she must be a good person if she had that mentality to just finish standing up. Your list of inspirational women makes me miss my bff. She’s the one who got me addicted to marathons. Good friends are tough to find.
What a great and inspiring post. Each of those women rock! I’m sure you are equally as inspiring and important to each of them as they are to you.
I love reading about “normal” inspirational people. I look up to both my parents who are in better physical condition now then they were 20 years ago. When I grow up I want to be just like them.
Runner friends are the best. They’re what I love most about running.
How awesome the ladies you have I your life!!
I love this that you said…so important …take everything in stride and keep moving forward with grace and good humor.
