Yesterday was a really long day. Really long.
As planned, I dropped my kids off at a friend’s house and headed to the car dealership. (Side note: It’s good to have a friend who’ll help you hide the body. It’s even better to have a friend who’ll take your kids on short notice, take them to the pool, feed them, and then get her ex-husband to take them when you are still at the.damn.dealership.)
Anyways, ahem, the test drive went well. As did the actual price negotiation and decision to purchase.
The rest of the day kind of sucked. I sat around FOREVER waiting to sign documents. I still have no idea what took so long. I came with a loan in hand, so it’s not like they were working on financing. Finally, after 3+ hours of waiting, saying no to add ons, waiting some more, and signing papers while turning down even more options, I was ready to go.
Except when they brought the car around, it had a dent the size of a walnut in the hood.
Really.
Thankfully, the Sales Manager took one look at my face and immediately started the process of switching everything to an identical car – without a dent in it.
Finally, 4 hours after I arrived, I drove off with my new car – one with exactly 1 mile on it when I got behind the wheel!
Happy new car day to me! Now perhaps I can focus on finding a training plan LOL.
A new car! Yay for you! I wish I could skip the add-ons. I always get the tire and windshield insurance – but here in Texas, they always pay for themselves!
Yes! Just passed my 2003 Camry down to the 16 yo. You done good.
Glad you got the car for the price you wanted – bummer that it took so long!!! I think dealerships do that on purpose!!
Yay! Congrats! How fun. 🙂 We have never bought a brand new car, but someday we will. Enjoy it!
Congrats on the new car, must be a weight off your shoulders to have that taken care of!
It is ABSOLUTELY a tactic to get you to submit to add-ons as they slowly wear you down with their water torture. Good for you for sticking to your guns!! Congrats!!
