Lack of cleanliness could refer to a whole lot in my life right now:
- me – I haven’t showered in longer than I care to admit
- my living room – it looks like our basement threw up in it
- my hallway – it currently has more battle droids than the Star Wars movies
- my bedroom – the laundry monster has taken over because the laundry baskets are full of basement stuff
- my treadmill – despite being covered in plastic, it’s got a nice layer of drywall dust on it
In fact, this morning I felt so surrounded by dust and chaos that I didn’t even know where to start. I found myself just sitting in my dining room staring at my computer screen, knowing I had to do something, but not knowing what that something was.
So, I did what any smart mom would do.
I went for a run.
It was just a little three miler without any electronics, but it cleared my head of all the internal clutter.
Up next? Cleaning up the living room and winning the war with the battle droids.
And maybe, just maybe, I’ll find five minutes to shower before I pick Shoo up from preschool…
Have a great day mama!!(aka nora-mamarunsbarefoot)
battle droids!!! you make me laugh.
LMAO…that is my house right now. WE are getting ready for our garage sale but we could be on TLC's hoarders.
I have had the same overwhelmed feeling before when we've had some portion of the house under construction. A dirty house makes life feel chaotic, but at least it's temporary!
Oh, I can so relate. We are getting ready to move (less than two weeks!), and my whole house is in a state of complete disaster. Intermingled with the moving clutter are Braeden's 24 gazillion legos that he needs to dump! out! every! day! And of course, Madelyn's herds of horses and bella sara cards. I won't even talk about the pack rat/hoarder issues I have with a certain husband or 14 year old girl. Give me strength!
i've been there with the house chaos and drywall dust and such. but not the shower. i can't usually go more than 24hrs before feeling too gross. I assume since you wouldn't say how long it's been, it must be over a day
Hang in there. Hopefully it will be over soon. It will be all so worth the messy house once the basement gets done.
Just think of how nice it will be when all the construction is done and things are back in order. It will be wonderful!!!
we moved on april 1 and i feel like i will ahve boxes forever….as for showering, it honestly seems like a waste sometimes, i mean if i workout and i know i am working out first thing the next day – why bother ??
I can understand how you feel. We are replacing our fireplace – between getting the old stones out – and now dry walling the surround – it is messy. Hang in there!
My daughter actually fills up our laundry baskets with her toys so she can slide them around the rooms. Drive me nuts until I see how much fun she gets out of it. Good luck with the cleanup!
I hope the run helped clean otu your mind a bit, at least!
