1. I swear some times I think my garmin is on crack. I’ll glance down at my speed and see 12:** and think “really, I don’t feel that slow.” Then I’ll glance down a minute or so later and it will say 6:**. It happens a lot when I run in the more urban areas near me. I think because of all the tall buildings. Last night I was just running in my neighborhood, where it usually does a pretty good job. It was just funny to see all the random readings and then have my mile pace turn out to be exactly what it felt like. LOL
2. Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous out. Seriously beautiful. It was in the 60s and sunny on the first day of Winter. So, of course, I went for a run. Apparently my legs were not recovered from Tuesday. I felt my quads on every.single.step. I’ve been focusing on form and on running lightly lately, but yesterday I sounded like an elephant running down the street.
3. Yesterday was also the Kindergarten class zoo trip. The animals were amazing! I’ve been going to the National Zoo for years and I’ve never seen them like they were yesterday. The lions were actually playing – one would go over and smack the other and then they’d all run! Of course, the only camera I had was my phone, sigh.
Tag, you are it! |
See the orangutan in the window? Shoo was RIGHT THERE seconds before, but trying to get a 6 year old (and an orangutan) to both cooperate = impossible. ;o) |
Today has dawned with beautiful weather again and the boys are home for the break. Unfortunately, our upstairs toilet has a leak I can’t fix, so we are stuck waiting for a plumber. Oh well, I’ll kick them out the front door to play.
Hope your winter is treating you as well as ours is so far!
ONe time I stopped and checked my Garmin and reset it it was acting so strangely. Didn't change. Maybe it had been smoking crack with your Garmin. And the last time I went to the zoo the animals were great. The panda moved a lot and the baby gorilla put on a show! I love the zoo. Running there is the best!Have a Merry Christmas.
Some of our races in downtown Toronto result in some wild Garmin readings. I love to look at the satellite map afterwards where it looks like I was zig zagging through the high rise buildings! The zoo looks so fun! I haven't been in years.
Ugh, my kids are just waking up and I'm just kicking them out the door, too… so much to do! Well wishes for your toilet 🙂 xo
So glad you got a run outside in some nice weather in. My garmin did funny things when I was doing my marathon in oct. We were downtown and I couldnt get a very good signal. When I finish it said I had ran 28 miles and something way off. HAVE A GOOD CHRISTMAS.
Is your pace setting current pace/mile or average pace/mile? I don't get those wild swings with the average reading.
When we ran Chicago our gamins were all over the place. It is definitely the buildings. Can you believe this weather? it was 55 in NH yesterday, so bizarre, but so awesome at the same time.Lastly, I love the National Zoo. When I was younger we used to pack a picnic and go once a month. DC has so much to offer.
Yay for great weather and boo for trippin' Garmin's. 🙂 Merry Christmas. I'm anxious to try out a zoo in Sedona AZ, it's called the Out of Africa Zoo and has some crazy/exotic animals. They throw raw meat up in the air and you can watch the animals go crazy for them…can't wait!
Lucky you! It was 27 degrees here in Washington. I love the zoo. I have this great picture of my oldest son when he was 5 looking through the glass at the orangutan who was looking right back at him. If the glass wasn't there they could have touched. So amazing!
The other day I ran a 5:00 pace first mile of an easy run. Super fast!….. Or just another crack smoking garmin. Enjoy the weather while it lasts!
I love going to the zoo. I know some people find it sad, but I love being able to watch weird animals up close.
Zoos are my favourite place in the world. I would volunteer to spend all day with a bunch of excited kids just to get to one – and I'd probably be the most excited.
The neighborhood dogs have all been crazy this week and I think it has to do with the weather–same goes for the zoo, I guess! Elephant running legs or not, it was all worth it to get out yesterday. Spectacular!Merry Christmas to you!
I loooove running in shorts in December! Heavenly :)Have a wonderful Christmas!
My Garmin always does that too. I usually have other choice words for it that I can't put here. But, I still love it!Hubby and I are running MCM next fall! I had to defer this year's entry due to injury. We're excited!
