Facebooking Thanksgiving prep

November 24, 2011 by MCM Mama 13 Comments

Beer Geek and I have been together for about 17 Thanksgivings. In that time, I think I’ve cooked 4 turkeys.  One of those times, I set my oven on fire.

This Thanksgiving prep was not as dramatic, but I’m pretty sure it’s one I won’t forget.

In the end, the turkey fit in the oven and is done now.  It may not be the best turkey ever, but at least it amused me.  Now I’m gonna head out for a Turkey Trot and then come home and spend the day eating tough bird and drinking good beer with some of my favorite people.  I have much to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all my friends in the blog world! May you find lots to be thankful for today!

Hahaha! This cracked me up. After hubs and I bought our first house it was our turn to finally host Thanksgiving! Oven caught fire, corner of my antique table snapped off, and a roach flew off the ceiling fan and across the room when were trying to clear the smoke from the over fire.

Too funny! Glad that the bird cooperated in the end! I have found that it is best to thaw frozed turkeys 2 days in the frig. I am cooking our "church" turkey this morning and will stick our "family" bird in the oven this afternoon. Having some coffee now and then will be heading out for my own Turkey trot – with Sophie.Have a great Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! You've made me very grateful that I'll never have to cook a giant turkey.

This was hysterical! Glad it got cooked. I would have been swearing up a storm. Glad you got all the holiday beer ahead of time. I made two pumpkin pies – wish I could give you one. I like Michael's idea. I am no fan of cooking a big holiday dinner.
