Today was a really good running day. It was beautiful. Cool with absolutely no humidity and a very light breeze. I headed out of my house around 1, knowing I needed to pick up Shoo at 2:30. I started out going downhill and did the first mile in 8:57. I figured I’d be slowing down after that, but I ended up doing the next 3 in 8:45, 8:47, and 8:49 respectively. Whoosh! I pushed myself a bit on the last mile to finish it in 8:58, so I managed to pull off 5 sub-9 minute miles. Go me! It felt awesome and leads me to believe that at some point in the next year, I may actually pull off a 2 hour half marathon. (Yeah, I’m already focusing on my next goal even though I haven’t actually finished the marathon yet LOL).
It was also a really good shopping day. I had a 30% off coupon for Kohl’s and a strong need for new jeans. Usually that means I’ll try on about a thousand pairs and maybe buy one. Not today! I found not one, but THREE pairs of jeans that looked good on me. Woot! Jeans are a staple in my wardrobe (I’m a stay at home mom after all), but I have a really hard time finding ones that look good, can be dressed up, and function when playing on the floor with kids. I’m also short with long legs for my height, so I often fall in the no man’s land between petite and regular. I ended up buying two pairs that will work with flats and low heels for walking the kid to school and wearing at mom events. And one pair that will work with a higher heel for going out.
I’m not sure if I’m happier about the run speed or the new jeans LOL.
Oh, and on the special porta potty thing. I won’t get to use it. You have to be wearing either MCM 2008 Brooks gear or their shoes and the shirt I won is just a shirt. Here are the details if you’re interested… http://www.marinemarathon.com/Assets/Brooks+VIP+Porta+Potty+08.pdf
Nice job on the run! OMG that was fast. Also nice find on the jeans. It is always nice to have a streak of luck finding them.
Great tempo run! I hope to run 5 sub-nine minute miles sometime and a half in under two hours. But not this year!
Woot! On both the fast run and the awesome jeans!
