I think my chiropractor was a bit shocked at how good my calf was today. No pain, very little soreness even when he was digging around, and he said it felt nice and loose.
But, you know, my body didn’t want him to think his job was done, so it threw in some tightness in the other calf and a left hip that’s not really happy right now. Sheesh, this getting old thing is hard.
Yesterday, I didn’t make it to the gym, so I walked 7 miles on the treadmill. Yes. Yes, I did. And if you are wondering if it was the very definition of hell, well, maybe. Thankfully I was saved by a “trash” novel.
I’ve found that I can only read books that don’t take a lot of thought while I’m working out. I tend to lose my place and miss any finer details. So, mind candy it is. (Don’t judge.)
I also discovered that walking 7 miles at a 15 minute pace is hella hard. My heart rate and breathing were fine, but my legs were turning over as fast as they possibly could without running. A speed walker, I am not. (And I’m thinking the walking is part of my hip issue. Did I mention this getting old thing is hard?)
But the good news? (Way to bury the lede…) I get to run tomorrow!!!! He told me to try for 2.5-3 miles! Do you see me over hear doing cartwheels? (OK, maybe not, I’d just injure myself LOL).
Fingers crossed that tomorrow I can give up my title of a non-running runner and actually start running again!
YAY for you! I hope you have a great hurt free run!
I spent my university years reading Mills and Boon so I will NEVER judge anyone’s literary choices. So glad you can run again.
My fingers are crossed for sure! Hope you are over this injury now.
