This morning I ran my local Turkey Trot. It’s always a fun race, but definitely not a PR kind of race. I spent the first mile tripping over dogs, strollers, and small children. I also spent the first mile wondering if my achilles was going to snap. Umm, yeah, I’m headed to the injured reserve list. I’ll be taking a few days completely off and then I’ll do an easy run to see how I feel. I’m pretty sure cross training and the gym are in my future. Guess it’s a good thing that race season is now over for me. I just have to make myself let go of my mileage goals.
And, while I’m not thankful for the pain in my achilles, I am thankful for a lot of things, including all of my awesome readers. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving day!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving. I will keep my fingers crossed about your achilles.
I was going to run it, but racing out the door to trip over strollers was not my idea of fun. Will be doing the race at Burke Lake on Saturday morning.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!I hope a few days fo rest does the trick.
Happy Thanksgiving! Take care of yourself. It is a good – relatively speaking -time of year to be injured. I let go of a lot of my goals. I will have the shortest mileage in several years but man am I feeling better now!
Nice to meet you this morning, however briefly! I was getting a serious chill and had to get warm clothes on. Have a great day!
Happy Thanksgiving! I've enjoyed your blog so much over the last year!
Sorry to hear about your achilles. 🙁 But Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
Bummer. I had random achilles pain on one of my 20's… and yea, that's exactly what kept going through my mind. I took 2 days off and came back for a week WITHOUT ANY SPEED. Yea, it's boring to run all your runs at "long slow distance pace", but for me it was a really effective method to get the inflammation down in the tendon. Be mindful if you ice, that' it's a tendon, and for the 20- 30 minutes after you ice it's not flexible.
I hope that you had a great Thanksgiving Mama!! Awesome picture of you running:) You look so happy!
Great picture, looks packed! I hope your foot shapes up and doesn't give you anymore problems!
Hope your Holiday went well!Hope the achilles feels better!!
Happy Thanksgiving! I'm so sorry about your achilles! I hope it shakes out to be nothing!
At least you can still drink beer when on the IR list.
