The weather here today was amazing! Nearly 70 degrees and sunny! In November!
Of course, I needed to take advantage of that. Beer Geek watched the boys while I headed out for a four mile run. Since he was with them, I felt comfortable leaving our neighborhood (when they are at school, I try to stay within a mile and a half of home in case the school calls). My legs felt a bit off, not really heavy, but more like things weren’t quite properly aligned. It was a strange feeling and certainly didn’t lend itself to speed, so I decided to do a little hill work. I headed over to one of the more challenging hills around (which is really saying something around here). The hard part is about a half mile in each direction – it starts with a slow decline, followed by a seriously steep incline for about .15 miles (mapmyrun says it’s a 9% grade going up!) Then I turn around and go back down and then up the less steep but twice as long hill (and then I have 1.5 miles to get back home). I felt pretty good going down, but that 9% grade just about killed me. If thighs could throw up, mine would have! Coming back up the lesser incline was hard and then I about died on the 1.5 miles home, as it was pretty hilly as well. I actually contemplated calling Beer Geek to pick me up LOL.
And what did I learn from this? That I need to run this hill more often. ;o)

Beer Geek and I had an awesome dinner out last night. We went out to the Liberty Tavern, where I got to gorge on Rock fish over lentils and mushrooms and he had a bratwurst, frankfurter, and spaetzle platter. We thought about wine, but couldn’t resist having Bell’s Stout and some Belgian Leffe. We even got to have a conversation where we could each complete our thoughts.
Today we took advantage of the lovely weather and went to some of the open houses in our neighborhood. We went in one that had more bathrooms than we have bathrooms and bedrooms combined! Then we went in one that would almost fit on one level of our house. The two houses were almost a million dollars apart in price! While these happened to be a few blocks apart, around here it would not be shocking for them to be right next to each other. What can I say, we live in an eclectic neighborhood!

It's so great to have shorts weather in November! Love it!!!Nice job with the hills.
November without wearing 10 layers makes me very happy! Great job on the those hills
What great weather we're having for sure! Glad you guys got out for some real, adult conversation. Sounds perfect, Bells stout and spaetzle included. Bootie buster, I need it, Birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas might be the death of me.
I love going into open houses, especially of homes I could never afford! Today is GORGEOUS so far, & I'm loving it 🙂
Your post title made me laugh… we have a hill around here that we "affectionaltely" refer to as Hell Hill. Great job on the run!A warm-up week for HBBC sounds like a good idea…
sounds like a helluva hill, and i certainly have more of an appreciation for our 'small' hills now in comparison to the ones in SF! 😀 Loving the weather we're getting too!
It's so funny to hear the different regions comment on the weather. Here in FL, everyone's like "It's so cool; it's 70 degrees!" And everywhere else, everyone is like, "It's gorgeous out; it's 70 degrees!"
Sounds like hell of a hill! Way to go!I only wish the amazing weather would stick around a bit longer!
Great job on the hills! I can't believe it's 70 there! We have had 20 degree weather which felt like 8 degrees and yesterday the wind was 15-35mph. Enjoy the nice weather!
I love hill workouts. Unfortunately, a small muscle located deep in my butt does *not* love hill workouts. That booty buster sounds like fun! May have to check it out…
